Another cracker from C L Taylor

Yet another fantastic standalone novel from C L Taylor. Captivating characters, twists and turns- this is on a par with The Missing. Loved it. Wonderful narration as well. If you like Taylor's previous novels you'll love this one too.

Lightweight family thriller

A married couple have a custody battle over their 2 year old girl as they break up. The story is told mainly from the woman's perspective. She has a few mental issues and we the audience find ourselves wondering which parent is in the right.

Several unrealistic co-incidences are a key part of the story. They seem unlikely and I found myself not really caring how the story was going to end. The story was lightweight and irrelevant.

A chore to get through

I really liked the other books from this author but this was not a good one. the story was full and uninteresting, all characters were unsympathetic and the twists were not worth it. I struggled to the end but I'll be getting a refund on this turkey I'm afraid.

Wow

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. it is amazing how easy it is to set someone up for a fall. I was riveted to the end.

While nothing new, it is well executed

The structure of this jam-packed, fast paced novel is well-laid out, moving from the protoganist's voice to a mysterious person continuously. While the enigmatic chapters were less than mysterious, as I figured out who it was near the beginning, it is clear and not too overdone. It is sad as there are many mothers treated this way especially through the systems, not believed and thought of as unfit. Hence it seems realistic with a sense of tension throughout

This author always writes about weak women

Unbelievable plot
Spends over half the story repeating the main characters problems
Wish I had remembered her last book with the last weak woman!

A really gripping story

I was absolutely hooked right from the very beginning. It was so full of drama and suspense with so many twists and turns. Katie Scarf read the story so well, really living every moment. I can't wait to hear more CL Taylor read by Katie.
