Summary

In her relationship with Charles, which has survived for more than 40 years, Camilla's story has seen a great many myths. This book is the definitive account.

The relationship between Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is one of the most remarkable love stories of the age. It has endured against all the odds and, in the process, nearly destroyed the British monarchy. It is a rich and remarkable story that has never been properly told - indeed, it is one of the most extraordinary, star-crossed love stories of the past 50 years.

Critic reviews

Praise for Prince Harry: Brother, Soldier, Son:

"A good read...this is a book about what it is like to have your world implode when you are 13 years old, to grow up as the 'spare' of a famously dead mother, to be a normal bloke in an utterly abnormal position." (Telegraph)

"Royal biographer Penny Junor goes beneath the clichés in her new book, Prince Harry." ( Express)
"The kind of authoritative, compassionate and revealing royal biography we have come to expect from Penny." ( Choice magazine)
"Junor's unique access to those close to the Royal family has enabled her to build up an intimate portrait." ( Daily Mail)

A fascinating insight

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator did a sterling job. The authors work seemed a tad sycophantic at times and personally I felt it was a little Diana bashing in places but I guess that's only because now I'm hearing the other side of the story. Would highly recommend this book. I now have a newfound respect and admiration for our Duchess.

Sycophantic Dribble.

Struggled to finish this audio book. Penny Junor has always been in Prince Charles 's camp and this book is just another book to promote Camilla in the eyes of the public. I like Camilla but no one is that sugary sweet and perfect. Even as a Diana fan, I have been very aware of her faults as well as her talents. I was honestly sick of hearing repeatedly the 'over the top' goodness of Camilla ( He who doth protest too much....). Penny Junor, it seems, has taken on the role of Mark Boland.
Conclusion: This is just another "Camilla is wonderful' PR book and doesn't really give us any insight into how Charles and Camilla tick. Utter waste of a credit

The Duchess

Well what a waste of time, not worth listening to.
Seems like Penny Junor was told, " Go and write a book about Camilla and paint her in a good light" Gushing syphophantic drivel !!!

Boring and sycophantic

Well we know whose side this author is on. Embarrassingly sycophantic. Obviously written as a PR exercise which has backfired. Also inaccuracies!

sychophantic and a revision of history

Would you try another book written by Penny Junor or narrated by Jenny Funnell?

No as she writes as a member of the royal family

Has The Duchess: The Untold Story put you off other books in this genre?

yes

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

Any additional comments?

Written to revise history and edit it for members of the royal family. Sychophantic and biased to at the least .Sorry I spent my credit on this rubbish and revision of history to suit the monarchy. I suppose given its Penny Junor I should have known better. No doubt we will see Dame Penny Junor in the future or some such honour for this book and pr job.

Dispel Camilla myths

This was a really great biography of Camilla. It gives the reader a different perspective and dispels a lot of myths and rumours. I like the fact that the author has written on this subject many times, she knows her subject well. As a tour guide who talks about the royal family all day, I can now speak on Camilla with more authority and information.
