Critic reviews

An exceptional thriller that blew me away with its original, high-octane plot, jaw-dropping twists and characters I cared about. When I wasn't reading The Drift I was thinking about it. A writer at the top of her game (CLAIRE DOUGLAS)
A truly terrifying, ice-cold chiller from the master of macabre. C.J. Tudor should be on everyone's must-read list (CHRIS WHITAKER)
Chilling . . . Her most complex and terrifying yet. The three intriguing locked-room mysteries in an eerie end-of-the-world setting provide the springboard for an enjoyable, fast-paced and captivating thrill ride. You'll be on tenterhooks throughout as the story builds inexorably to a grand reveal and a shocking finale
C.J. Tudor is a genre fiction pioneer. With every new book, she manages to achieve what most writers can only dream of, and The Drift is no exception. Taut, action-packed and oh-so-clever, this thrilling rollercoaster of a ride takes the reader on a journey into the frozen unknown
Whoa! I raced through this in a couple of days. SO good, SO gripping, SO clever. A runaway train of a book (JANE FALLON)
Sublimely executed, this is a dystopian thriller of real class.
Fast-paced with twists and thrills, this brutally chilling novel will keep you on tenterhooks
Atmospheric, with suspense dialled up to the max, and at times heavily claustrophobic, this is a page-turner which flirts heavily with horror and delivers on all counts
A chilling, captivating thrill ride
Fast-paced atmospheric story

What a lot of time CJ wasted during Covid. Characters are so important and it was difficult to get behind any. Ending very poor and I’m struggling to see the point.

So disappointed from someone who has quickly become a favourite.

The performances here are excellent. They bring the story to life. However it is a horrible tale which at times made me feel sick and not want to go on… I am not entirely sure that listening to the end was actually worth it but I did enjoy the performances and the descriptions of scenery, snow etc.

Gruesome story. Quite gripping

loved the book. The way it all comes together. I listen in the car while driving to and from work, even drove slower so I could hear more. I would say just as great as her other books, and it was narrated really well.

Another great book

At first I really wasn't sure, so many characters, different locations and storylines but it never got confusing, the writing and narration made it really easy to keep track and follow. I do love me some distopian and apocalyptic stories so it worked. Pretty bleak but that was to be expected considering the setting.
Some books I just give up on and can't force myself to keep listening, this one I definitely wanted to keep coming back to!

Loved it, kept coming back to it!
