Summary

The Dream Daughter is a page-turning and unforgettable story of love and hope from bestselling author Diane Chamberlain.

When Caroline Sears receives the news that her unborn baby girl has a heart defect, she is devastated. It is 1970 and there seems to be little that can be done. But her brother-in-law, a physicist, tells her that perhaps there is. Hunter appeared in their lives just a few years before – and his appearance was as mysterious as his past. With no family, no friends, and a background shrouded in secrets, Hunter embraced the Sears family and never looked back.

Now, Hunter is telling her that something can be done about her baby's heart. Something that will shatter every preconceived notion that Caroline has. Something that will require a kind of strength and courage that Caroline never knew existed. Something that will mean a mind-bending leap of faith on Caroline's part.

And all for the love of her unborn child.

Amazing dreamlike book!

Everything about this book captivated me! The subject matter - a mother struggling to save her daughter who has a heart problem - the futuristic sci fi element of time travel, and all the twists and turns of the plot made this such a fantastic and heart warming story that I just listen to it over and over again. I'm on my 7th listen of it (on Audible) and it's just as great every time. I literally never get tired of hearing this beautiful story again! The narrator, with her gentle, expressive Southern accent, is perfect, expressing the characters' emotions with compassion and insight. The ending was beautiful.... Just perfect.

Amazing book but an emotion rollercoaster

This is a really lovely book but oh my god does it take you through a lot of different emotions and have you on the edge of your seat.

Really good read/ listen don’t read the middle of the book just before bed or you will never sleep ( or maybe that’s just me) very gripping book.

Fantastic Author haven’t found the book I do not want yet.

I didn't want it to end!

Initially when reading the summary for The Dream Daughter I was a bit unsure, I delayed the purchase until I had nothing else on my list apart from this title. Judging a book by its cover definitely played a part here. I am so happy that I eventually gave it the time it rightfully deserved, I only wish I had listened sooner.

Susan Bennett does an amazing job at narrating, the emotion in her voice draws you in and fully connects you with the story. I found myself listening to this book whenever I possibly could, I found myself longing for the next chapter to know what happens next but at the same time, I was dreading it coming to an end - I wanted it to go on longer!

I urge anyone to listen to this book, an emotional yet gripping journey of a mother doing anything to save her daughter's life. The book is not too heavy and unbelievable on the sci-fi aspect so please do give this a chance.

Beautiful, heart warming story ❤️

I listen to at least one audio week per week and very rarely write a review but this book was so beautiful and I would thoroughly recommend it! Story was very believable with brilliant, relatable characters. Finished this in 3 days. I have read another few books by this author and I will look out for more.

One amazing story!

This is the best book I’ve listened to for some time. Like another reviewer I kept putting off listening to it as I thought it would be too sci-fi but it isn’t. What a rollercoaster and I was literally on the edge of my seat. I went through all the emotions as a mother and wanted to know the end but didn’t want it to end! The narrator was perfect and I’ll look out for more books read by her. I am a fan of Diane Chamberlain but this is her best in my opinion.
