About this listen

Photographer Eddie Drake had expected a challenge when he joined the archaeological expedition to the lost city of El Lobo, but he was unprepared for the bizarre terrors that lurked beneath the Mexican mesa.

The deeper the party descended into the ruins, the more unbelievably horrifying it became. Huge slug-like monsters with a hunger for flesh left trails of slime and blood through the hellish labyrinth, but the greatest terror was yet to come, as the men realized with growing panic that the cavern walls were actually composed of living flesh.

I must admit that this book surprised me, I had rather low expectations but this one kept me on my toes! Schoell has with The Dragon crafted a well written supernatural creature feature with a smidgen of archaeological horror. Well crafted flawed and broken characters that feels real. Surreal happenings and violent endings. Starts off slow and a third into the story the pace ramps up. Need to check out more of Schoell's work.

Narration: felt a bit lackluster and monotone for me.

Great forgotten horror

The story was pretty good. It definitely uses some graphic language. However it's set in a time where it would be .ore common. The narrator was quite monotoned. Probably not something I would listen to again, but it's worth a listen.

Pretty good story.
