Story
Do you believe in fate? What if your fate was actually determined by something small - something like, what counter you used in a game of Monopoly? Troy Thompson is a former F1 driver who now drives taxis (because he missed the high speeds and risk taking) and used to be the little pewter car when he played Monopoly with five others back at the Silver Sands Caravan Park in Whitley Bay, in 1985. Now, 25 years later, the six friends are drawn back to the camp by something - something ethereal, something dark. Does it have something to do with fate? Kismet? Yoga? The friends' old Ouija board?

Summary
In search of the ferocious truth, some would call trying to channel the spirit of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson a fool’s errand. But these are desperate times. So settle in for this trilogy of uppers, downers, screamers, laughers from John Bruni (Tales of Questionable Taste), Kent Hill (Hercules with a Shotgun) and Kevin Candela (Weedeaters: The Complete Acropalypse) as they bring you just what the doctor ordered. “Yesterday’s weirdness is tomorrow’s reason why” – Hunter S. Thompson

Never Forget You're in Bat Country
This is a great book for fans of Hunter S. Thompson and gonzo and bizarro fiction in general. I really thought all three authors did a great job of creating works in alignment with his themes and adding a bit of their own spin as well. Burt is excellent with his performance, as always, I have yet to find a book he isn't clearly getting a kick out of as much as the listener and authors.

Super Imaginative and Fun Listen
Hunter S. Thompson is one of those larger than life figures and who better than some authors of larger than life works to write a series of three novellas about Thompson in decidedly larger than life situations. It starts with John Bruni bringing Thompson and his Attorney on a journey mirroring Dante's in Hell and goes from there. The only commonalities are that there will be plenty of drugs, plenty of action, and a real agreement among the authors on how Hunter S. Thompson would act in these circumstances. Though they're three stories in three different settings you can believe the same character is in each which really cements it as a great collection of tales of a man whose certainly an inspiration to the authors collected in this work. I received the review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this honest review.

3 Exciting and Entertaining Journeys
I have never read any Dr. Hunter S. Thompson's work, but after listening to these three stories and comparing their unifying themes, I think I have a sense of his work. The stories involved road trips where we encounter extremely eccentric and memorable characters, do a lot of drinking and drugs, and are exposed to graphic violence. They made me want to read his work. The narration was excellent. I really enjoyed how the POV character retained the same voice for all three stories, while a wide range of colorful voices were used to depict all the other characters the POV character meets. Thumbs up and highly recommend this audiobook.
