Hmmm.... bit of a funny one, this!

A great start to this, dare I say, kind of lighthearted thriller... it was something about the narration that just didn't sell it to me. It sounded like a children's book with the dastardly doctor being given a voice more like a cartoon character. It was also really annoying when the narrator started acting out what she was reading- some passages were totally ruined by her weird dramatisation. Overall, not a bad listen. A lot of 'twists' you can see coming a mile off but pleasant enough if you want an easy listen.

this was an exciting journey...

...but the final destination was disappointing. The characters had a few quirks I found to be not believable, even after suspending disbelief.

Loved this book ,couldn’t stop listening

Only gripe I had was the voice the narrator used fir one of the detectives , it was so annoying , the story and the rest of the reading was excellent , I’ll be checking out her other books now

Really hooked by this from the start. Quick paced, well written.

I enjoyed this book

I notice that several reviewers felt that the story was far fetched - but I think that when people find themselves being controlled by another person, it can happen gradually. Perhaps you start out not doing something because it upsets or annoys the other person, and this can escalate to where the other person becomes violent if the unwanted activity occurs unconsciously or innocently. I would say that I felt that the twist at the end of the story was a bit odd given the unfolding of the action - but hey, that’s what the author wrote - and I found it an enjoyable and compelling read.

Truly gripping

I listened to this book in one sitting. Hooked from the very first chapter, my heart racing willing the characters to pick up on the clues. Chilling right to the very end. If you like thrillers you won’t be disappointed.

A bit far fetched, gruesome, but very good,

This story is very imaginative, if a bit far fetched. It was quite gruesome in parts and really made me cringe! Dr Ahmed was a horrible, narcissistic man and quite mad. His wife Alysha (not Anita as stated in the synopsis) was such an annoyingly cowardly, wimpy wingy woman I really felt like slapping her. I wasn't too sure how I felt about the ending - it could give way to a sequel?
The narration is excellent I must say. The narrator is so good at putting on a different voice or accent for each character.
Well worth listening to.
