Not helpful
Although the author/narrator is very sympathetic to people struggling with diet mentality and the aftermath of diet regimes I felt the so called ‘diet fix’ is just another diet, as the key stages are food diaries and calorie counting, something I have already wasted too much of my life doing already !!

what a kind and sensible man
i have been playing along while listening to this. I have almost effortlessly lost 10lb and am feeling chilled. Im particularly impessed with the humanity, he gets it and knows that being mean does no good. I have never appreciated a doctor more.

Very helpful
This is very interesting to listen to when you have struggled with your weight for a long time and tried all sorts of crazy and non sustainable diets in the past. Although you might not want to follow all his recommendations, some of them are very helpful.

Very good but audible version could be better.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I liked that author had a scientific but compassionate approach to weight loss and weight maintenance. He has a fresh or alternative way of looking at weight loss. Awesome, that he appreciates that people are individuals. I liked that he pointed out that the food industry had a lot in stake.
What other book might you compare The Diet Fix to and why?
Geneen Roth -- When Food is Love and Feeding the Hungry Heart. Not scientific but more about mindfulness while eating and being compassionate to yourself to get to your individual weight.
What about Yoni Freedhoff’s performance did you like?
He spoke clearly and I liked that he repeated what he said over and over again. I am curious if the book version is similar. But it helped with remembering his diet approaches.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
A lot of moments! 1. People who are happy with their weight are happy with their life. 2. He differentiated binge eaters into two different groups. 3. That losing weight doesn't mean you have to suffer. 4. That he added questions 2 and 3 before you put a piece of "forbidden" food in your mouth.
Any additional comments?
It would be great if the PDF had markers to go with the 10 Day plan so that the listener could go back and listen without searching for it. I am now planning to re-listen to the book and mark it myself. For that , I did not give 5 stars. For the price of the audio book and not having a companion book available for purchase it is very inconvenient. I listened to the book while walking and I had to accelerate the speed of the narration to 1.5x otherwise the cadence of his voice slowed me down. But otherwise, it was easy to listen to his narrative style and follow along and learn what he is trying to teach the listener.

Sensible, sensitive and simple advice.
I loved this book as much (or more) as I love Yoni's Weighty Matters blog. Yoni is the most sensible, Kind and thoughtful person I've ever encountered when it comes to health and weight. He is also an engaging writer and narrator.
What I love most though is that his recommendations are evidence based, easy to follow and flexible. Because of this almost everyone will find this book to be useful, regardless of dietary preferences and requirements.
I highly recommend this book. I use it in conjunction with my fitness pal.

Practical, Realistic, and Healthy Approach
This physician laid out a practical, realistic approach to weight loss that didn't promise miracles and didn't attempt to promote some gimmick. It is designed to work with any eating plan you decide to adopt so that it can fit into your lifestyle, instead of the other way around. Dr. Freedhoff believes that we aren't meant to fit into boxes. Rather, each of us has a personal best, based on our own circumstances. One takeaway for me was that life must include chocolate. Some days, I might want the whole bar, and that's okay, but on another day, I may be happy with just a bite or two. As for exercise, he believes that we ought to do as much as we can honestly enjoy, and if some days, that's walking up a few flights of stairs instead of taking the elevator, instead of pounding the pavement for an hour, then so be it.
On a side note, Dr. Freedhoff, who narrates this book, has a voice reminiscent of Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, which makes the book even more enjoyable for me.

The best and last "diet" book you will ever read

Yoni's philosophy of life is clearly articulated in this treatise on all that is wrong with fad diets.

Enjoyed the book -- missing a recipe
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. This is my first Audible book that I listened to while working in less then two days. I was happy to receive the recipes in the PDF format -- but the only problem the first recipe that I looked at was the pizza recipe and I was excited about it but the 2nd page was missing. So I'm not sure the calories or the serving or how to finish it. I would love for Yoni to include this somehow. I listened to the book -- and now I'm going to go back and implement the 10 day reset. I really enjoyed knowing about having a protein with each meal. This was my problem -- and I never understood why I wasn't quiet satiated.
Thank you Yoni for this wonderful book. I look forward to listening to other titles that you perhaps have written in the pass and in the future.

Wonderful sensible advice that works
I have done lots of stupid things to lose weight until so far. I now know why some things work and some others not thanks to this book. This is an important book for people with struggles regarding weight loss.
