About this listen

Filled with excitement and trepidation, Jeanie Munro is returning to India and her husband, Mungo, having been forced apart from him by the Second World War. Together, they can start their longed-for family. But post-war India is in a ferment of change and the undercurrents of tension begin to disturb their tranquillity.

Still grieving for her beloved brother, killed in action, Jeanie tries to make the most of her new life. Her only true friends are the Lomaxes, a family haunted by scandal and owners of the glamorous Raj Hotel. She is especially drawn to handsome, fun-loving Rick—but knows she must not allow their mutual attraction to grow. Then, just as Jeanie is becoming reconciled to her lot, long-buried secrets come to light that shake her world to the core—and leave her facing the hardest decisions of her life.

I have enjoyed all 3 books in this series. So beautifully written. Ended well. I found the narrator somewhat flat. It sounded like she was about to burst into tears most of the time. I think reading the book on this occasion may have been bette

r. However, a story not to be missed. Although 3rd in trilogy it wasn't over repetitive which was great too.

A wonderful experience.

The third and final book in the series. Narrator much much better than previous two books, despite the Scottish accent, which you get used to after a little while. Couldn’t stop listening. A few unexpected twists and turns but overall very good

The final part of a lovely family story

I've finished and enjoyed the first two books in the series...you get to know the characters and follow their stories/as their lives intertwine with each other through the years spanned in the novels...
HOWEVER THE Narrator was chaged for this last book and it was sheer torture...YET I was determined to complete the series...but in agony!!! If I wasn't so stubborn, and tenacious I would've returned the book and said forget it...but then I would lose out on knowing the final "episodes" and wrap up of the characters/Storyline!

mixed bag - Story ok/Narration awful
