Summary

They call them the killer couple. Accused of killing their daughter, the Barbers have been on the run from public opinion for two years.

But the Barbers are fighting back. And if their high profile campaign to clear their name and get their baby back has made them rich that was never their intention.

Meanwhile a failed prosecution hasn't dampened the media's hunger for revelations. Their investigators are on the job, moving towards an exposure that will spotlight the Barbers as the killers they are. And now a dangerous vigilante has joined the fray: if the system can't bring justice he'll mete out his own.

P.I. Eddie Flynn doesn't read the tabloids. Shuns limelight. Trusts only in facts. But can't resist challenges. When the Barbers come to him for help he pushes judgement aside and signs up. His mission: keep them safe and find their child.

Sounds like nice, solid detective work. Until Flynn realizes that his clients are hiding something.

This is how it's done! Serialise it --- NOW!

Would you listen to The Devil's Snare again? Why?

Yes. A) Because it's a joy from start-to-finish, as it's so well written and narrated. B) Just to see what if anything I missed.

What other book might you compare The Devil's Snare to, and why?

It's predecessor for obvious reasons.

Have you listened to any of Simon Blood DeVay’s other performances? How does this one compare?

The 1st in the Trilogy "Behind Closed Doors". He's such a good match vocally to my mind's-eye's vision of Eddie Flynn. If this gets televised they must cast Mr DeVay :)

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Eddie's deadpan humour makes me laugh and the very thought of losing a child &/or children, never mind the trauma in the denouement made me cry.

Any additional comments?

Encore! When's "Cold Call" coming-out?

Brilliant p!ot, expertly narrated

Well, I never saw THAT ending coming! Luckily I can replay it all and work out what clues I missed. Hurrah! The gift that keeps on giving.

If less is more, how much more would more be!?!

Where does The Devil's Snare rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this even more than the 1st Eddie Flynn book! So, to-date, this is my favourite.

What other book might you compare The Devil's Snare to, and why?

The first one "Behind Closed Doors", where we meet many of the characters in this tale.

Have you listened to any of Simon Blood DeVay’s other performances? How does this one compare?

"Behind Closed Doors" & "The Surgeon". Professional, clear, good performances laden with gravitas and emphasis. Very easy-on-the-ears.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The most moving moment comes near the end; but, to describe it would truly be a spoiler... Uhmmm, 2 women, 1 man, a knife and a witness - is all I'll say here.

Any additional comments?

There's a 3rd Eddie Flynn book in print... So here's to the AudioBook. :D
