Just how low do people sink to get away with murder?

A human skull unearthed on the outskirts of Reykjavík.
A neighbourhood dispute turned deadly.
A daughter, trapped at sea, looking for answers.

What police officers Týr and Karó don't know is that these events are all linked through a terrible tragedy, many years ago, when a trawler caught fire on the waves, the crew trapped inside.

The answers lie buried at the bottom of the cold Icelandic Sea.©2026 Yrsa Sigurdardóttir (P)2026 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

I discovered this incredible author a few months ago and then binged every book I could get. I then pre-ordered this after listening to the first two in the series. Listening to many books back to back, made the thought of having to wait 2 whole months for this 1 was a hardship.i had separation anxiety 😩

I enjoyed the story but ive deducted a star because it didnt grab me like the previous books did. There wasn't much of a connection with the charachters from book 1 & 2. It also lacked charachter development and read more like a loosely connected stand alone novel which left me feeling disapointed.

The pace and plot are slower, lacking in the building of tension, blood pounding moments and imminent fear that this author is so rightly famous for.

The story isn't bad and the narration was perfect. Hoever, the ending seemed rushed and underwhelming. Overall it just didn't hit like i was expecting.

I will still be anxiously awaiting for any new releases whether its in this series or another. You are still the Queen of Scandi Noir, so please keep doing what you do best xx

Patiently waited for this on pre-order.

the story was too disjointed with no real sense to the separate strands until you lose interest in how they come together
