About this listen

'Utterly terrifying' Clive Barker

Humanity is doomed: A strange plague is decimating humanity on a global scale. At first you forget little things, like where you left your keys. Then bigger things, like how to drive. Finally, your body forgets how to live. There is no cure.

One last hope: Something that just might save humanity has been discovered . . . deep beneath the surface of the Pacific Ocean. In order to study this phenomenon, a special research lab has been built eight miles under the sea's surface.

But terrible things hide in the dark: And then the station goes quiet. Lucas Nelson's brother is trapped down there, and now Lucas has to go down into the lightless fathoms and find out what happened. Because if he doesn't . . . everyone on earth will die.

But there are worse ways to die than simply forgetting how to live . . . as Lucas is about to find out.

Are you afraid of the dark? You will be.
Suspense Thriller & Suspense Exciting

Critic reviews

Old-school horror at its best. Not for the faint-hearted, but for the rest of us sick puppies, it's a perfect gift
Some thrillers produce shivers, others trigger goose bumps; Cutter's graphic offering will have readers jumping out of their skin
Suspenseful . . . sinister . . . horrifying
The Troop is proper horror. Packed with onomatopoeic squelchiness
Lean and crisp . . . Disquieting, disturbing

I thought after I survived the trip I'd be grand reading this. Sweet baby Jebus, some of this is most upsetting. I dont mind humans getting hurt but lordy be above won't somebody think of the animals. Be warned. None are safe.

A wonderful writer with a twisted imagination.

It is okay. So it is an undersea thriller? No, it seems to be a story about a guys' relationship with his abusive mother. It comes across like it is going to be Crighton's sphere updated for a new generation but reads like a drama about abusive parents. What do you do, when you are 8 miles down? Get the mission done, then go back home. Not these chumps. Though I have fallen asleep a couple of times as Corey droning on is a wonderful way to catch 40 winks, but then I have to rewind to understand what missed. I had heard good things about this book, but it is bordering on tedious for the most part.
