Summary

International bestselling author Jeffery Deaver explores the borderline between lies and loyalty in a story of a brotherhood on the brink.

In the wake of a disastrous firefight with a Mexican cartel, two El Paso police officers find themselves in a military hospital facing a debriefing about what went wrong. As their accounts unfold, Tony, a by-the-book cop, begins to believe that hotheaded Matt might have divided loyalties. Could he have intentionally led the team into a trap that saw the death of a beloved senior officer? Or is the truth even more terrifying than Tony dares to imagine?

Very disappointed with beginning, middle and end!!

Not much imagination has gone into this book. I was still waiting for it to get going as it were, and it finished. Not worth the money

Not Jeffrey Deaver's best effort

I've enjoyed the prior short stories in this series but did not care for this one. This is the lowest rating I've ever given a Deaver story.

Thrilling Short with Excellent Twists & Turns

This was my first book from this author. I love the Kindle singles since they give you an opportunity to sample an author's work without a large time commitment. This was a fantastic thriller with excellent twists and turns I did not see coming. A fast paced excellent short. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audio book. Scott Merriman did a wonderful job on the narration. I have a few other short stories from this author to sample.

Great short listen!! Patrick Warburton??

Love anything by Jeffery Deaver!! This is no disappointment with all the expected unexpected twists and turns!! I also found it amusing that the narrator does a voice for one of the characters that I thought sounded like a dead on impression of Patrick Warburton!!!

Boring

I just couldn't seem to get into it. I tried about three times to listen to this short story and still don't know the plot. Remove from device? Yes!

Disappointing

I have been a big fan of Deaver's books, so I thought I really enjoy this story. The story lacks Deaver's usual detailed descriptions and character development. This would make a good 60 minute TV show or one installment of s popular network series. I just prefer his novels with more multidimensional characters..

Not a fan

The narrator's voice was nasally and annoying, I found the story thin and predictable. I was actually glad it was as short as it was, I don't think I would have finished it if it had been much longer. Weirdly disappointing work from Deaver, he's one of my favorite authors but this was not something I would recommend.
