Story
It started with a splash. Jimmy, a homeless veteran grappling with PTSD, did his best to pretend he hadn't heard it - the sound of something heavy falling into the Tyne at the height of an argument between two men on the riverbank. Not his fight. Then he sees the headline: Girl in Missing Dad Plea. The girl, Carrie, reminds him of someone he lost, and this makes his mind up: it's time to stop hiding from his past. But telling Carrie what he heard - or thought he heard - turns out to be just the beginning of the story.

Surprisingly good
Had me hooked from the get go. Loved the narrator too. A gritty thriller that took a while to get going, interesting twists and sub plots.

Not the end!
I do hope this does not see the end of David Blake. Great story, gritty, no messing! Well done. Great performance as well.

Terrific story told brilliantly. What happens next?
Having now listened to all 3 David Blake books, I can easily say they are at the top of my best audio book list. The stories are fast paced and really involving with a touch of humour but what really brings the books alive is the brilliant narration. David Nellist brings every character alive for the listener. What happens next? I would love to hear more from David Blake & his 'gangster' friends as I couldn't stop listening to these books, taking every opportunity to immerse myself in their exploits. Highly recommended, more please!

Another really good book from Howard Linskey
I have listened to all the books in this series and so enjoyed the Geordie humour and accent brilliantly read by David Nellist. The story about a gangster boss romps along and leaves you feeling for the man. The characters are developed through the series and this is the latest and I fear the last in that series. I hope Howard Linksey puts pen to paper soon with another set of books with plots that are as good and challenging as these have been.
