“WOW… I found my debut of the year… I could not put this smart and pacy thriller down so I read it from the gripping start right to the shocking ending in just ten hours flat! I highly recommend.” Jo Callaghan, bestselling author of In the Blink of an Eye

What would you do if your first date ended in murder?

A year ago, after a perfect date, Miles Deverill was charged with murder. The handsome young actor became front-page news when he was accused of killing Caira Kennedy, a social worker he had just met that night.

Now acquitted, Miles can’t escape the past. He tries to rebuild his life, but journalists won’t leave him alone. And then the threatening messages start—in Caira’s own voice: this is not over. Is she still alive or is someone playing a twisted game?

Desperate to escape, Miles joins friends on a remote road trip. But deep in an isolated forest, one of their group is murdered. Someone close to Miles knows exactly what happened on his date—and this time he has to face the truth. Guilty or innocent, there is nowhere left to run…

Fabulous storyline, well-defined characters, easy to follow and a very enjoyable read. Love his engaging writing style, I was hooked from the very start. Sad I’ve finished it as I was enjoying it so much!

"Why settle for a taste of the fruit, when you can have the whole vine?" 🙊

This was fine. I didn't hate it, but I also wouldn't be rushing to pick up anything else by this author. The premise sounded really intriguing and there were some good ideas throughout, but overall I just didn't find myself particularly invested in the story or characters. There were a few moments that kept me guessing, but it never quite delivered the level of suspense I was hoping for. I think that's probably the biggest issue for me, I've definitely read better thrillers and mysteries that have kept me much more hooked. It was an easy enough read and the story was OK, but ultimately it was just a bit... meh. A perfectly average 3-star read for me.

Narration style was stilted & not engaging to the listener. Perhaps this would’ve been better with a more compelling story
