About this listen

Vlad Kuznetsov is a psychopath—a killing machine. Experimented on from a young age by a mad scientist, he cannot feel anything.

No pain. No remorse. No regret.

His violent episodes make him a danger to society, so he’s learned to live in the shadows.

Alone is safer. Alone means control.

Until her.

Assisi Lastra. The little nun with fire in her eyes. She should fear him—everyone else does. But instead, she stands toe-to-toe with the devil and dares him to feel.

She calms the chaos in his mind, quiets the voices that demand violence. For the first time, he craves something…more.

But his violent nature cannot be tamed. His darkness isn’t a wound to heal; it’s the essence of what and who he is. And no matter how much he craves her light, he knows one thing:

A monster like him can never love. It can only destroy.

This is an EXTREMELY DARK BOOK. Please check the triggers before listening. It is the first book in the Morally Ambiguous Duet. Parts of it were previously included in Morally Ambiguous

How can someone who cannot feel still hurt you this much? 😩 This book is DARK. If you’re a fan of the Cat & Mouse Duet, this one goes even darker. There’s blood play & r*pe. There’s so much unaliving. There’s a slow burn that sets you on fire. And that ending was so dramatic I was upset the entire evening. It’s f*cked up in the best and worst ways. The duet narration worked incredibly well for the book, exactly how I imagined it would be. Can’t wait for book 2 to drop!

Really dark and twisted (and mysterious!)

Vlad and Sisi will have you on the edge of your seat! these tortured souls have been broken with no thought of repair until they find each other, but can two halves become whole?
This is a lengthy but well written read with dark themes. their story captivates you from the start and doest let go not through all the heartbreak, torture's and more this couple become who they are and accept each other. An attention grabbing story line and characters that break you and mend you in one twistingly dark way! Can't wait for more!.
audio review- Dual narration brings the story to life! great easy listening!

I enjoyed the story the gore, and surpised on how it ended. Book 2 isn’t on audible yet so devastated but buying it right now because I need to know how it ends.

Brilliant

Vlad caught my eye in Bianca's book and I was intrigued to read his whole story. This is a dark, very graphic book and I don't say this lightly. I do feel however in order to understand Vlad and Sisi's dynamic, it is necessary. As Vlad presents a front to most people he meets, and it is in these graphic moments we get to see glimpses of the real him and the almost clinical tone of the first few chapters are a contrast to the adult Vlad which Hector Carrillo really leans into. Likewise with Sisi, although her energy doesn't quite match Vlad's, (yet at least, but something tells me she is about to enter her fully fledged villain era after that ending) from her start in the convent, to the scene in the greenhouse she is definitely on her way there. You can feel Sisi's frustrations starting to creep into Molly Briar's performance as she although she has been sheltered, Sisi has had her own pain to deal with.

I did struggle with the timeline a little as it seemed to jump around a bit at the beginning until I realised Lina and Marcello have their own concurrent book. I felt I was meant to know who Lina and Claudia were as well as Cressida and I was waiting for that reveal as well as a bit more understanding as to why everyone seemed to think Sisi was living quite happily at the convent. Similarly there is another sister who is lurking in the background so I'm going to pick up the book I've missed to hopefully fill in some of the blanks.

Vlad's backstory is brutal (I cannot stress that enough - it is harrowing) and there is a lot of exposition for the first few chapters with the story moving at a clip until Sisi leaves the convent. Vlad broke my heart and even after that ending I have to hope there is more to it as it was just so cruel. That being said, there are some lighter moments though when they truly connect and I did laugh at some of the humour (Ninja Nun was my favourite). I also need to find out if Sisi ever gets the giant bear. These two would be unstoppable together but there are plenty of obstacles to be overcome and we are nowhere near a HEA at the moment. So much so that I can't imagine a grand gesture big enough to come back from that last chapter!
