Interesting well told story

An interesting well told story of an families curse. The discovery of an ancient book brings a curse into the light of day. I liked the way the story is told in two different time periods and switches back and forth between them but is essentially the same story. Short but with good characters, would have liked a bit more of the curse through the generations and some of the dialogue is a bit cliched but overall an entertaining involving tale. Narration is very well done and easy to listen to I received a complimentary copy from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review

Just didn't grab me

I want to say it was great, but for me, the story felt a bit slow and lacked excitement.

A good read for those loving the genre.

This isn’t my normal genre but knowing the quality of the author’s work I was intrigued to read The Curse. As is usual with her work the book is well written, structured and polished.
The curse has been with the family for years, passing down through generations. I won’t spoil the ending but I enjoyed it.
The cover is eye-catching and perfect for the tale, and overall, the narrator did a good job.

A very nice surprise

I was grumbling to myself after some less than satisfying experiences this week - not another 2.5-hour 'bonanza' that leaves you with just a brief beginning where nothing much happens except a 'hot mess' of confusion and then you are left hanging for months for the next installment - I thought, why did I get this? Well, my momentary negativity was TOTALLY unwarranted. This short story is complete (though room left for further adventures). And the pace is very fast and the story beautifully articulated - a lot happens from minute one and the adventure continues to the last minutes of the story.

For such a short book there are a lot of very relatable characters introduced and a multi-generational twist that is so fresh and interesting. If I am going to be picky, I would have liked the resolution to be a bit more fully articulated. The end was a little sudden.

I cannot finish without applauding Ann Tworek's incredible narration. She had me totally absorbed and immersed from minute one.

Unique and exciting!

I really enjoyed this short story! It was a very unique plot with great characters and some twists along the way! It was refreshing to read a book that didn’t give away the ending on the pages and kept me guessing until fully revealed.

Good short paranormal story

I would classify this as a paranormal story. It was good. I wish it was a little longer to develop the story and characters more.

Fun Premise

For a short story I feel like it had a lot of good ideas but there just wasn’t enough character development for me to relate to the characters through the story. It also felt a little too easy in some places we’re all of the characters just happen to meet under the perfect circumstances and then magically figured out the puzzles to the mystery of the curse without much trying. I’d love to read this again when it has some more development to it I feel like it is a very good start to a series :-)

I was given this novel for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Wow

I love short stories like that and what makes it better is it spans many generations.
Great story line. Only thing I thought the curse had to be broken by the twin! Since that isn’t what happened can we expect a second book?
I received this free for an honest review from the author or narrator.
