This is a dark romantasy, the world building is intriguing as is the lore of this story. The vibe is gothic and like the old story tales of vampires that will shift in gargoyles/big bats. If you watched an older Dracula or VanHelsing older movie is so much that vibe.
There's 4 house that rule over Moldavia and our FMC, Lila runs from one of them and when reached another, she strikes a bargain with the MMC Ambrose, and from here the story unfolds. The world will pull you in and captivate you.
The main characters are very well developed and with an amazing arc. Lila starts as a weak, little mouse but grows into a badass character. Thru her journey you will see her loyalty, selflessness, courage and trauma.
Ambrose, he is a lot, grumpy, protective, caring, he has a mouth in him that will make you curl your toes and giggle! I love how soft and caring he is with his people and how he sees and builds up the FMC.
Audiobook: preformed by Ryan Stone and Raven Wilderwood they did an amazing job bringing this characters to life, and all their quirks and emotion.
