Summary

When Earth gets embroiled in the middle of an intergalactic war, humanity's only hope for survival rests with a ragtag team of unlikely heroes that includes an ace fighter pilot, a stuntwoman, a super-assassin, and an alien prankster.

Jim, a wisecracking, OCD-suffering fighter pilot, is about to propose to his girlfriend when his friend Kurt surprises them by showing up at his house, wounded and covered in blood. This is just the beginning of Jim's woes, because soon after, his life is thrown into a galactic conflict that threatens the very existence of the human race.

Can our heroes save humanity from the wrath of a galaxy-conquering alien fleet? The Crimson Deathbringer seamlessly blends breathtaking action sequences with mischievous humor. If you enjoy a well-written space opera saga, or if you are a Star Wars, Star Trek, or Stargate fan, this book, with its nerve-wracking space battles, memorable characters, formidable antagonist, and Game of Thrones-style shocking twists, is written especially for you. Pick it up and see for yourself!

Fascinating story, good narration I thoroughly enjoyed this book

This was a slightly different genre to my normal go to book, and I went into it pretty cold without seeing a review.

Really interesting and well thought out storyline, sprinkled with bits of science behind the futuristic technology. Enjoyed this story immensely and can’t wait to see how the story plays out in the next book.

Super Sci-fi

Crimson deathbringer is like nothing I gave listened to before. it had me on the edge of my seat with all its action but combined with humour. It took me back to star wars with wonderful characters being so unique that many could have their own series. A soap opera on another galaxy. I highly recommend this audiobook with a fantastic story and great narration. I look forward to the next one.

Great!

I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary.

I was taken in very quickly by this engaging and well written sifi. The plot has many twist and turns, its not your average military sifi, its much more. Its fast paced and keeps your fully entertained throughout.
The narration pretty good too.

What a great audiobook

This is the first time I’ve listened and read a book in this genre and I’m amazed at how good it was. I thoroughly enjoyed listening and reading this book, the character building was great and the story itself goes along at a decent pace.

I’ve just purchased book 2 so I can carry on the journey Sean wrote and see how the characters are doing.

If you’re into sci fi books I’d highly recommend this, you won’t regret it !

Not Your typical Sci-Fi Story

This story is set between an earthly villainous ruler and 'The Resistance', and two waring alien species. The main characters are very likable with their eclectic personalities and special quirks which keep your attention throughout the book. They are interesting and you care what happens to them. The author clearly has a love affair with Sci-Fi, the book is rich with quotes from well known TV shows and movies that will make you chuckle along as you listen. If you are a Star Trek fanboy/girl this book will certainly be a lot of fun for you. In fact a lot of TV and film nerds will be happy with this. Overall this book was well thought out and well written, smoothly transitioning back and forth between the strategies of The Resistance and antagonistic storylines. This is a fun read and has a different take on an alien invasion that I've not come across in other literature.

I was given a copy of this book for free of my own choosing and have voluntarily left this review.

Tight, well written and beautifully Narrated!

I went into this audio book without any prior knowledge of the author or narrator, but I figured that it was high time I dove into another Space Opera, and possibly a military Space Opera novel at that... and boy was I surprised by what I got! This book is so different from the same-old, same-old... and I absolutely loved it! Yes, it's a near-future dystopian novel, and yes it's a first-contact situation with Spaceships, but that's where the similarities end, with nothing else familiar, or even expected!
I seriously loved how Sean Robins wove his dystopian world (and freedom fighters) into a Scifi political-drama... and this is how our freedom fighters found themselves, inducted into not only saving the world and human race from themselves, but from alien conquerors too!
The plot is so well written, so tightly woven, and so beautifully narrated, you'll find yourself glued into your headset! The story has great characters, plenty of pop-cultural references, wit, and lots  of real laugh-out-loud moments! Plus, I found all the action that I could've ever wanted. Crimson Deathbringer will even make you forget about getting a goodnight's sleep! It's Perfect!
So do yourself a favor and grab the audiobook because CJ Grey is raring to give a great performance and transport you into Sean Robins future world!

A Different Invasion

This title by Sean Robins and narrated by C. J. Grey is a good story. The only reason I didn't give it five stars across the board is I at times felt a discounect from the MC Jim. I'll not go into the reason for the disconnect because I don't want to ruin anything for other listeners.

The premis of the story is a different tak on nvasion of earth. The normal aggressor species is there and the not so normal helping species is there too. The differences for me was that Tarq and company are cowards and hiding behind earth's skirts ... after a fashion.

I found myself becoming involved with the characters and caring for them and their struggles. I do recommend this book and am looking forward to more from Sean Robins and C. J. Grey.

I received a free audio copy of this book. I am writing this honest review without obligation to anyone.

Captivating

I really enjoyed this story. It captured my interest from the beginning and I really liked the characters, except Jim he was at times a little annoying to me. The main hero character, Jim, is funny and I liked that just in some moments it was a little hard to see him likeable. Despite that I really liked the beginning of this series and can't wait to see what happens next. Narrator does a great job too.

Loved it!!

Space Opera is a whole new genre for me and I wasn’t even sure what it was when I requested to listen to this book. But now….oh, man, am I invested!!!! I absolutely can not wait to listen to the next book in the series. I don’t even know where to start with my review. The story, as I’ve said, is fantastic. For me, it was completely different from my usual type of book. Aliens invade earth, but it’s funny. And serious. And funny again. I learned not to get attached to anyone. Not all heroes win the battles. But, the sadness passes shortly and the story swiftly moves on. We get to know the thoughts of each of the main-ish characters and that helps add some dimension to their tale. But, at the same time, we never get too deeply into any one particular story, so Jim is the only character that we really get to know. And Jim isn’t a perfect hero. He has his hang m-ups and issues, and disappoints us a few times. But, he’s still a great guy and I’m so excited to get to spend another story with him. The narrator was great. He had a really deep voice, which was surprising at first, but he could pull off a feminine voice with no problem at all. This really was a fantastic book and I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series. I received this book for free at my request from Audiobook Boom.

Deathbringer is riveting right from the get go.

C.J Grey brings life to the story, a wonderfully well written one with lots of humor in book 1 and I’m lovin’ it.

This is a refreshing space opera, down to earth story, a can’t put-it-down book (audiobook in my case). Unexpected twist, true to life heroes’ deaths (Sean Robins doesn’t play favourites on who lives, making the story more life like). I love this series and bet I will continue to enjoy all his books and I’m sure many space opera fans will add Sean Robins to their eclectic choice of authors to go to for a good read.

An awesome can’t put it down space opera. If you’re a Trekkie or Star Wars fan, you’ll definitively love Sean Robins.

You're in for a FUN Ride!

I gotta say -- I'm pretty sure that I haven't had this much sci-fi enjoyment since 1977 -- The Crimson Deathbringer was A LOAD OF FUN!

The charactre diversity was great -- humans, aliens, and awkwardly lusty aliens with a sense of humor. Numerous film references (a bit like Ready Player One), which Sean Robbins' narrator represented perfectly. The tone of the story and pace moved along well.

An outright pleasure of action, sci-fi, tech, and humor -- I WANT MORE!

An epic sci-fi adventure

The Crimson Deathbringer is an epic sci-fi adventure, and we’re off to an dramatic start with this first volume of the series.
On a primitive planet called Earth, the peacemaker was killed and his son. Kurt, is leading the resistance against its dictator. Meanwhile, in space, the Akakies sign a hasty peace treaty with the Xortaags, who now decide to inhabit Earth using their Crimson Deathbringers. They also use the Voice of God to reduce humankind to slavery.
When Kurt is wounded, he seeks refuge in the house of a flight jockey, his childhood friend Jim, known for his flying and fighting abilities. Just as they are found out and sentenced to death, the Akakies—Tarq and Barook—rescue them and bring them to their base, preparing for the upcoming fight. Maada, the chief military expert of the Xortaags, plan to exterminate humanity.
The storytelling is beautiful narrated by C.J. Grey, who gives each character a distinct personality. In his words, “Narrating to me is a very intimate thing. You are basically telling a story to someone right into their ear.”

Disclosure: I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

A Lot of Fun!

Sean Robins has created a truly original sci-fi series here, with plenty of action and laughs to go around. Every time I thought I knew where this was going, it changed course. C.J. Grey does a fantastic job of bringing the voices to life.

A very good book!

I liked this book a lot. I had been given the first in the series to read as a gift. I will get the rest of the series for sure! The Alien's were humorous as well and characters were interesting. I understood most of the movies referenced, but I've been around "the block" a couple of times. if you enjoy a good sci-fi adventure with well done production....get this. Well done!
