About this listen

How far would you go to protect your child?

I knew something was wrong. It’s a mother’s instinct.

I could tell when my son started hiding things from me. He used to walk to school with a mischievous grin on his beautiful face. Now he avoids eye contact and keeps his head down.

Since I discovered he’s being bullied by a classmate, I’ve spent every day worrying, my stomach churning with anxiety from the moment he leaves the house to the second he walks back through the door.

Everyone keeps telling me I’m overreacting, but I won’t risk my child’s safety. My husband and I try to talk to the other boy’s parents, but it only makes things worse....

Then our precious child is hurt. Enough is enough. It has to stop. Even if that means taking matters into our own hands.

Because we know the truth about the family targeting our son—it’s not the first time they’ve done this. So the question is, exactly how far will we go to get revenge?

A nail-biting psychological thriller from the number one best-selling author of The Doctor’s Wife. If you love Behind Closed Doors, Gone Girl, and The Housemaid, you’ll be hooked on The Couple’s Revenge.

So far my least favourite of this author’s books. I’m getting a little bit irritated by the way characters who are telling the story, in all his books, refer to their spouses as ‘my wife’, ‘my husband’ or ‘my partner’ rather than referring to them by name, which they rarely do. It would be far more natural if the frequencies were reversed. But in this book, the characters are really unpleasant. Maybe that’s the fault of the female narrator, who seems very unloving in the way she talks to, or rather screams at, her loved ones. She sounds sarcastic too. Judging by the way her 15-year-old son talks to her, and the love her children have for her, I think their mother was meant to be portrayed as a far more sympathetic person, who became nervous very easily and occasionally shouted. Had the book been read like that I might have enjoyed it more. Had it been a long book, I’d have given up on it.

The lady narrator is so annoying. Good story though as are all Daniel Hurst books

wasn't too bad a story, although it didn't last as long as it should have, had to speed it up due to the odd and annoying narration!
pretty bland ending though, despite the twist.

As many others have stated in their reviews. It was a hard listen due to the female narrator. The male was fabulous but I became disengaged when the lady spoke because quite frankly it was irritating. The story was ok and I wasn’t expecting the plot twist.

I love this author’s work the only downside is that I don’t want the story’s to end, even tho the female narrators voice was a little annoying I figured out how to make it less..just by putting the speed up to 1.5 when she spoke, this made it bare-able the story was fantastic that’s me all up to date with all his books.
