About this listen

The gripping thriller with a difference from internationally bestselling author Lisa Stone

An isolated cottage…

After losing her job and boyfriend, Jan Hamlin is in desperate need of a fresh start. So she jumps at the chance to rent a secluded cottage on the edge of Coleshaw Woods.

A tap at the window…

Very quickly though, things take a dark turn. At night, Jan hears strange noises, and faint taps at the window. Something, or someone, is out there.

A forest that hides many secrets…

Jan refuses to be scared off. But whoever is outside isn’t going away, and it soon becomes clear that the nightmare is only just beginning…

I did like the book as a whole how ever the face that club foot was played down did upset me. Dont get me wrong I know its very treatable but the journey is horrible for both child and parents. The physical pain of their feet being moved, boots held with a bar to keep their feet at the angle it needs to be. Blisters all the time from wearing the boots, physiotherapy, creaming their feet, the list goes on. My son is 9 and due to his club feet his legs and ankles are weak. He often cries with the pain. He can't walk or run as far as his peers due to the pain. Until you hear your child beg you not to put on the boots as they hurt them you will never understand how much a child suffers

This book held my interest right to the end. Clever storyline and well narrated.

Engrossing story

Reasonable good story. However the character Janice was very irritating almost always! I must have been immersed in the story as I was continually verbally berating her stupidity and overall dullness. Not wanting to divulge but if she was related to me I’d kick her xxxx

Based on fact

I enjoyed listening to this book especially the first two thirds . Particularly the creepy parts at the cottage in the night . It was an intriguing listen . The end was a bit of an anticlimax after all the mystery prior . A bit far fetched . Good narrator and worth a listen .

quite chilling in places
