Summary
A Sunday Times bestseller and Richard and Judy Bookclub pick, The Confession is an absorbing tale of secrets and self-discovery from Jessie Burton, the million-copy bestselling author of The Miniaturist and The Muse.
When Elise Morceau meets the writer Constance Holden, she quickly falls under her spell. Connie is sophisticated, bold and alluring – everything Elise feels she is not. She follows Connie to LA, but in this city of strange dreams and 1980s razzle-dazzle, Elise feels even more out of her depth and makes an impulsive decision that will change her life forever.
Three decades later in London, Rose Simmons is trying to uncover the story of her mother, who disappeared when she was a baby. Having learned that the last person to see her was a now reclusive novelist, Rose finds herself at the door of Constance Holden’s house in search of a confession . . .

Excellent naration but triggering
Hayley Atwell performance is wonderful.
There are some fascinating pieces of prose in this title but it's triggering if you're involuntarily childless, have lost a child or are struggling with infertility.
Had to stop at 80% through because it was becoming too triggering and I was getting stressed and upset.
Others more fortunate in these areas may find it more enjoyable.

Naval gazing
Nothing like her previous wonderful books.
Generations of women full of angst trying to decide who they are. Self obsessed narcisits. No sympathetic characters. No conclusion.

not my cup of tea
I didn't really like the characters which made it hard to care what happened to them.

Fantastic book! Loved the narrator
This book gripped me from the beginning to end! I especially LOVED the narrator. One of the best ones I’ve heard in awhile. She brought the characters to life, and did an excellent job with the different accents. Highly recommended!

" Dreary and Miserable "
Oh dear... I loved The Miniaturist but this was terrible. Dreary, monotone narration. Characters you don't care about going on and on and nothing at the end of it. Nearly lost the will to live but soldiered on in the hope of "a great reveal". Shouldn't have bothered.

Not predictable
Absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t stop listening. The characters had real depth and although the storyline was not predictable. Would love to follow the characters further.
