What stood out to me about The Complete Executive Function Workbook for Kids Ages 6–12 is its focus on turning executive function concepts into small actions that families can actually practice.

The book addresses challenges that many parents will recognize: difficulty getting started, repeated reminders, trouble following routines, large tasks that feel overwhelming, emotional meltdowns, poor organization, and struggles with motivation. Instead of expecting these problems to disappear immediately, the book focuses on gradually developing the underlying skills.

What stood out to me is how easy this workbook is to follow. It explains executive function in a simple way and gives parents small activities they can try each day. The sections about routines, motivation, and emotional regulation are useful and easy to relate to.

I also like that the book does not make the process sound complicated. The short daily activities can make it easier to stay consistent. It is a practical listen for parents looking for gentle and simple strategies to help kids become more independent.

I like the idea that executive function strategies should help children feel capable of handling everyday responsibilities instead of making them depend on constant reminders from adults. Kids are still learning how to organize themselves, manage their time, stay focused, and handle mistakes, so expecting them to get everything right immediately can create unnecessary pressure. The role of the parent is to guide them, give them the right tools, and slowly step back as they become more confident in doing things on their own. Sometimes, allowing kids to make small mistakes and figure things out can teach them more than always stepping in to fix things. In the end, success isn’t about raising a perfect child, it’s about helping them become confident, responsible, and comfortable knowing they can handle challenges on their own.
