“This of-the-moment story follows Grace Turner, a young Hollywood actress who disappeared at the height of her fame for an entire year, and her return to life in LA.... Full of dark secrets and suspense, this darkly funny tale is full of empowerment, courage and vengeance.″ (CNN)

“[B]eautifully written and compulsively readable.... At its core, this book is about redemption, grace, and pain.” (Jenna Bush Hager)

Grace Turner was one movie away from Hollywood’s A-List. So no one understood why, at the height of her career and on the eve of her first Golden Globe nomination, she disappeared.

Now, one year later, Grace is back in Los Angeles and determined to reclaim her life on her own terms.

So when Grace is asked to present a lifetime achievement award to director Able Yorke - the man who controlled her every move for eight years - she knows there’s only one way she’ll be free of the secret that’s already taken so much from her.

The Comeback is a moving and provocative story of justice in the #MeToo era - a true pause-resister about a young woman finding the strength and power of her voice.

Critic reviews

"Raw and nuanced...slices straight down to the nerve. A chilling exposé unfolding in real time - I dare anyone to read it without squirming in suspense and in recognition." (Chandler Baker, New York Times best-selling author of Whisper Network)

Great!

Loved the story and the well drawn characters. I do feel it should have had a British actor reading the audiobook but she did a great job anyway.

I could not put this book down !

I literally listened to this in one day ! It was outstanding. I believe the story of Grace tells the story of many that have been abused and absorb the shame into just wanting to feel numb. This was wonderful keep writing!

Outstanding!! The Grit and The Marrow!

Exceptionally done. It gives victims a voice and survivors hope. In an almost analytical point of view. This story will stay with you.

A story worth hearing

I think this book offers many life lessons with the reader. To begin with parents need to be involved. When we leave them with others to raise and educate we forfeit our ability to instill values. It doesn’t matter that it’s Hollywood Paying the big bucks, there is a cost to forfeiting our parental role. More importantly it’s never too late for redemption.

Good listen!

I listened to this one on Audible and a great portion of REALLY liking it is my favorite narrator narrated it. Saskia Maarleveld. She could read the phone book and make it 5 stars. I enjoyed the story. There were many layers to Graces story of how what she experienced changed her. How her “comeback” and relationships with others peeled off the layers. Especially her friendship with Amelia. Good beach read/listen. This was a Read with Jenna book club pick.

Boring

I was expecting a fun, twisted revenge story. Instead this is more a day-to-day of a previous young star and her current pathetic existence. Nothing happens. Narrator is good but the story itself is so dull. I barely got through it

Overall ok

Narration was good. The book was a little slow moving. I expected a little more from the book, but was still an enjoyable listen.

Great read. I truly loved it. Loved the authors note at the end, too, it gave a lot of insight as to the timing of this story.

Keep going

I felt like this book dragged out a bit in the beginning and I couldn’t figure out why until the end. Paints a deep portrait of the victim. It is so good. I can’t wait until it’s made into a movie!

Best narrator ever!

This book is fascinating. I enjoyed every minute of it. A true picture of backstage Hollywood and its impact on the players. The story is terrific. There’s a message here, but conveyed by excellent fiction. Don’t miss.
