Summary

A deadly virus - and a desperate race against time.

One spring morning in New York City a 17-year-old student wakes up feeling vaguely ill. Hours later she is having violent seizures, blood is pouring out of her nose and she begins to attack her own body in the most hideous way imaginable.

Soon, other gruesome deaths of a similar nature have been discovered, and the autopsies reveal that a previously unknown virus is at large. It replicates horribly fast, it is always fatal - and is just too efficient to be entirely natural.

When the Centre for Disease Control sends a forensic pathologist to investigate, her discoveries precipitate a national crisis.

The Cobra Event is a dramatic, heart-stopping thriller of an all-too-real threat.

Richard Preston is the god of virus books!

So excited to see this on audible, I've read the majority of Richard Prestons books and next to The Hot Zone this is my favourite! Really gripping and terrifying!

The reading style is poor.

The stop start of the narrator is infuriating, I couldn't get past the first chapter.

Bioweapons > Nuclear weapons

My all time favourite bioweapon thriller finally on audible.
Narration is perfunctory at best though.

Great book that changed the USA

This was the work of fiction, that caused government to establish a national stockpile system.

Great fiction work packed with information about biological terrorism. You will learn a lot while taking an exciting ride.

If you are not detail oriented or interested in learning about the subject, skip it. It's more than just an action adventure.
