Summary
HER OBSESSION. YOUR HOME.
Cornwall, summer of 1986.
The Davenports, with their fast cars and glamorous clothes, living the dream in a breathtaking house overlooking the sea.
If only… thinks sixteen-year-old Tamsyn, her binoculars trained on the perfect family in their perfect home.
If only her life was as perfect as theirs.
If only Edie Davenport would be her friend.
If only she lived at The Cliff House…
Amanda Jennings weaves a haunting tale of obsession, loss and longing, set against the brooding North Cornish coastline, destined to stay with listeners long after the ending.
Critic reviews
"Immensely atmospheric, with vividly drawn characters and a set-up fraught with tension. Jennings portrays the intensity, danger and vulnerability of teenage girls brilliantly and the 80s detail feels so authentic." (Lucy Atkins, author of The Night Visitor and The Other Child)
"The Cliff House is completely addictive and utterly compelling. Jennings writes with great insight about the obsessive nature of teenage female friendship and the quiet tragedies within dysfunctional families. Her characters are subtly drawn, their vulnerabilities teased out gradually, while her passion for the Cornish landscape sings from the page. It's a clever, thoughtful and page-turning novel that should rightfully take Jennings to a very wide readership." (Hannah Beckerman)
"Mesmerising and nostalgic with a dark undercurrent that will leave you reeling." (Susi Holliday)

Good story. Narration not for me.
I found the narration of this novel highly annoying and normally would have returned the book. Fortunately the story was engrossing enough to keep me listening. So if you don't have time to sit and read this book, persevere with listening to it as it is worth it.
