About this listen

The scene is a traditional English garden located in the splendour of the English countryside. The plants and wildlife have an ability to communicate with each other which the humans who reside in the house are totally unaware of.

The rulers of the garden are the climbing roses who have a status of aristocracy which the other plants obey and surrender to them. The perimeter hedges have great value as they protect the garden from the strong harsh winds and without the protection of these hedges most plants would perish and the garden would become less civilised and take on a more natural landscape. The common nettles who are looked upon as a hindrance and have suffered years of oppression have developed an unique ability to separate themselves from their root system and move stealthily about at night.

'With a desire to rule the garden themselves they embark on a revolution and attempt to undermine the root systems of the hedges. The local Chaffinch informs the climbing roses that the nettles of the adjacent garden are also planning a revolution. Upon hearing this a council is held with a plan to depopulate the nettles of both gardens who will be sent to war and fight one another.
