About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of the short story The Christmas Scorpion by Lee Child, read by Jeff Harding.

Jack Reacher likes to head south for the winter, to stay warm: so just before Christmas he arrives in a small town in Southern California. But the weather there is not warm and dry, as it’s supposed to be: he arrives in a freak blizzard. Reacher finds refuge in a snowed-in roadhouse with four other strangers stranded by the storm. Two of them are British military police, separated by the weather from the VIP they are detailed to protect. Can Reacher help them find their guy, or will an undercover assassin find him first?

I enjoyed this very short story. But then I'm a huge Reacher fan. Wanted more..

to short

I’m not sure how much more could’ve been added to this novella, but I totally understand why previous reviewers have opined that it’s too short. It is short, but it’s a very clever story.

Perhaps it could have been padded by an extra scene at the Barracks, but to be honest, there. Wouldn’t have been a story at all if Reacher hadn’t pitched up! It seemed strange to have the confrontation out in the open, but I’m sure that there was a good reason.

Please be aware that this is a novella and don’t moan about ‘wasting’ a credit to get it.

This novella is Clever and way too short!

I hadn’t listened to the shorter stories before, they are indeed short however still very enjoyable with the same themes as normal

Short but good

It could have done with an extra chapter, which kind of spoiled it. But it is a short story so I guess that's what you get. Can't wait for the next full book in the series.

Great story, shame they rushed the ending
