About this listen
Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.
And that his best friend has a crush on me.
And that I just moved in with them.
Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?
I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?
He knows where to find me.
©2018 Elle Kennedy (P)2019 Audible, Inc.Now that I've read the Chase I've recaught the bug...Our main characters, Fitzy and Summer are just as amusing as our OGs of Briar University. Summer is sister of previous hockey team star Dean Heywood De Laurentis and has been thrown out of her previous college after an arson accusation. Fitzy and his two room mates offer her a place to stay as a favour to her brother, despite ongoing attraction between the two.
Fitzy has turned into one of my favourite book boyfriends. He's nerdy, brooding and sexy as hell. Summer was a really deep character, trying to break the stereotype of 'spoiled little rich girl' and become her own woman. I really enjoyed reading this development and really clicked with her as she tried to battle her own demons and find herself. It was great to see the return of characters like Garrett, Dean, Morris and more from the other books as well as some new characters I can't wait to hear more about.
The narrator of the story was fabulous. She had a lovely voice and differentiated every character with great ease.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series, The Risk.
So happy to go back to Briar!

♡ My Rating: ★★★✧
♡ My Notes and Thoughts:
• Book 1 in the 'Briar U' series
• 'Briar U' is a spinoff series to the 'Off-Campus' series by the same author
• A slow-burn romance between Mr. Grumpy and Ms. Sunshine
• Narrated in two perspectives
• The hero plays ice-hockey 🏒
• The heroine has ADHD
• This book tried to address quite a few topics like, ADHD, the prejudice that all good-looking people are shallow or surface-level, sexual assault
• Which brings me to...
• 【🚨Trigger Warning🚨】: This book contains scenes of attempted sexual assault (albeit unsuccessful ones, thankfully 😌)
• Also, this book does contain a few cliches, which makes it a 3.5★ read for me 😌
• Although this book is part of the 'Briar U' series, it could be read as a standalone
♡ My Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a grumpy-and-sunshine, new-adult sports romance ❤️
3.5 ★

Summer has been evicted from her new Sorority House and a teary call to her brother has her shacking up with some of his former Hockey team mates. One of those players is Colin Fitzgerald, aka Fitzy, hot jock body, shy geek mind. She's a whole lot of woman he doesn't think he can handle, and to say he fumbles their first 'moment' is an understatement the size of Texas. She wants nothing more to do with him after the hurtful comments she overheard, hes beyond jealous shes been showing an interest in their other roommate Hunter. She has enough guy trouble with her creepy new professor without Fitzy playing hot and cold.
Narration by Jacob Morgan and CJ Bloom was fantastic, the story was very formulaic and the plot was easy to follow into a nap, 4 stars.
