Summary

When a sink hole opens up near the Australian outback town of Pintalba, it uncovers a pristine cave system. Sam joins an expedition to explore the subterranean passages as paramedic support, hoping to remain unneeded at base camp. But, when one of the cavers is injured, he must overcome paralyzing claustrophobia to dive pitch-black waters and squeeze through the bowels of the earth.

Soon he will find there are fates worse than being buried alive, for in the abandoned mines and caves beneath Pintalba, there are ravenous teeth in the dark.

As a savage predator targets the group with hideous ferocity, Sam and his friends must fight for their lives if they are ever to see the sun again.

Good B movie feel

Enjoyed this one. Pulpy and grindhousey in the ways I wanted it to be, with a few moments that really dialled up the terror. Cool monster design, just enough mystery to make me stick around while the body count rose.

Pretty dull unfortunately

The book suffers from a severe lack of tension. We are pretty much told everything about the creature and it's motives from the very beginning. There's very little left to speculate on and nothing really comes as a surprise. It would have been much better if some things were left to the imagination or were only implied. Not bad if you're looking for an unsurprising gore-creature fest.

Sorry, not for me.

Wasn’t for me unfortunately. The narrator didn’t do it for me and the characters were irritating to me. I stuck it out for several hours but only got about half way through .

Cavern

Definitely worth a listen, a good story that flows well and well narrated. A simple but well written story, much better than a lot of writers who overreach.

shitshow syfy.

god damn this is some lame ass crap. this is the kind of story youd expect asylum films to be frothing at the mouth to get, or as a syfy channel movie special. they give away the monster in the first few minutes of the book, the charqcters are so mentally incompetent they hould wear their helmets all the time rather then when in a cave. the writing is poor quality and the plot lacks so much luster it rivals vantablack. the monster is poorly constructed with the excuse "its some kind of alien" and you can tell exactly what is going to happen well before it happens. though sometimes you will be wrong. simply because the author forgpt details of a scene and just rewrites it mid way through.

this was a good book but my only problem with it was the foul language. had it not been for that i would give 5 stars. the narration was pretty good and the story was great.
