Politics is fair game, until someone breaks the rules…
In the aftermath of solving a gruesome investigation, FBI Agent Allie Bishop is called out to Boise to assist with a case. Someone is targeting public officials with extreme malice and leaving no trail.
After escaping a near-death assault on her way out of town, Allie's mind is teeming with new questions and old fears. Who was the mysterious man who had tried to warn her, and who were the people who so clearly wanted to see her dead?
Navigating a new field office and a new partner, Allie is forced to confront her own weaknesses while juggling fresh concerns about her family's past. It's all getting to be a little much, and it just might do her in.
Don't miss the next thrilling installment in the celebrated Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller Series.

A bit long winded

Honestly, I only finished this because it was book three in the series and I was too invested to give up. Otherwise, this would have been abandoned long before the end.
I had to listen at 2x speed just to survive it. The writing was so repetitive that I started wondering if the book had been written by AI — or at least heavily assisted by one. The same phrases, descriptions and conversations seemed to go round in circles endlessly.
And the food conversations… SO. MUCH. FOOD. 🤦♀️ I genuinely couldn't understand why we needed lengthy discussions about what characters were eating when they contributed absolutely nothing to the plot or character development. They just completely killed the pacing and, quite frankly, my concentration.
There were times I realised I had completely zoned out because nothing was happening. And when an audiobook makes you actively look forward to the next book rather than the next chapter, that's probably not a great sign.
If this hadn't been part of a series, I wouldn't have bothered finishing it. 2 stars purely because I couldn't bring myself to abandon the series — and because I apparently have a stubborn need to know how things end. 😂
