Summary

When the Buddha set in motion the wheel of Dharma, he knew that the teaching he gave was inexhaustible - that every future generation would find its own skillful ways to convey it to the hearts and minds of those ready to hear. The Buddha Is Still Teaching is testimony to the fulfillment of that promise today. The selections it contains, from today's most highly regarded contemporary Buddhist teachers, bring the Dharma eloquently to life for us in our own time, place, and culture. They demonstrate that two and a half millennia have done nothing to diminish the freshness of the Buddhist teachings, or their universal applicability to our lives. Contributors include: Ajahn Chah, Joko Beck, Sylvia Boorstein, Tara Brach, Pema Chdrn, the Dalai Lama, Ram Dass, Mark Epstein, Norman Fischer, Natalie Goldberg, Joseph Goldstein, Dilgo Khyentse, Jack Kornfield, Noah Levine, Stephen Levine, Sakyong Mipham, Sharon Salzberg, Suzuki Roshi, Robert Thurman, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Tulku Thondup.

Series of Quotes ...

Interesting but. it as expected. Basically a series of selected quotes from various contemporary authors and spiritual leaders

I expected something different with commentary utilizing the quotes to support the main text.

if you are look for quotations then this i for you. if you are looking for a book discussing how Buddha is still teaching today then perhaps loom else where

Many pearls, but no string

I assumed that this would be a collection of lectures by various teachers, but it's really more like a series of quotes. They were very good quotes, and this kind of rapid-fire dharma was interesting and useful for me, but just not what I was expecting.

The drawback of this style was that it was a bit difficult to digest since it jumped from quote to quote to quote. It may have been organized by theme but I didn't sense any thread connecting the quotes. I will probably pick up the print version for more thorough consideration, along with some of the books that were quoted.

Like a buffet

I enjoyed this book because it was so easy to get right into the heart of the matter. Perhaps it appeals to the millennial mentality; that rapid fire, info-hungry manic way that we deliver data in the modern world. So many jewels, expertly performed, capable of touching you right to your core. An excellent introduction to many facets of the Dharma. A great first step on your path

Snacks

It's good, short little tidbits, if you don't have much time it can be great for a quick attitude adjustment.
