Rookie Cop Dave Stewart knew that William Bailey was guilty of murder. All he had to do to convict him was change one line in his statement. Detective Chief Superintendent John McCauley loves dirt. He collects it in secret files to use against his enemies, and since Stewart slept with the beautiful Detective Sergeant Anne Wallace, he is the enemy. Stewart hatches a plan to destroy the evidence against him, but inside McCauley's files is evidence of a vile paedophile ring operating under the Chief's nose. His marriage is crumbling, he's haunted by the deeds of his past, and he's got the high-profile shooting of two schoolboys to solve - not to mention tracking down a serial killer who calls himself the Man of Flies.

Summary
They told you that you would die if you opened the book. But would you dare to read it?
The first audiobook in the international best-selling series, narrated by Jeff Harding.
The Book with No Name is a fast-paced, cinematic listen, shot through with black humour, which will hold you rapt from its intriguing opening to the dramatic climax.
Detective Miles Jensen is called to the lawless town of Santa Mondega to investigate a spate of murders. This would all be quite ordinary in those rough streets, except that Jensen is the Chief Detective of Supernatural Investigations.
The breakneck plot centres around a mysterious blue stone, 'The Eye of the Moon', and the men (and women) who all want to get their hands on it: a mass murderer with a drink problem, a hit man who thinks he's Elvis and a pair of monks among them. Add in the local crime baron, an amnesiac woman who's just emerged from a five-year coma, a gypsy fortune-teller and a hapless hotel porter, and the plot thickens fast.
Most importantly, how do all these people come to be linked to the strange book with no name? The anonymous, ancient book that no one seems to have survived reading? There's only one way to find out what happens when you read the book with no name....
Part of the trilogy which includes The Eye of the Moon and The Devil's Graveyard.

Not for me
I didn't know it would be a western, or at least that's what it was for as long as I could listen to it. Narration was good, but I can't stand this sort of thing. I must have had brain freeze when I bought it, because if I had known it was all bar fights, whisky and whiskers, I don't know why I bought it!

Utter tosh
I can’t believe all the positive reviews for this book. I kept waiting to feel involved or even entertained, but felt neither. Given the hype, I felt I had to keep going, in the hope that something would eventually click; again, nothing. I stuck with it to the end, just in case the ending redeemed the rest of the book, but no such luck. I can’t single out any one problem, as it was entirely poor - plot, characters, style, the lot. I don’t feel as bad as I might about writing such a negative review; as an international best seller, I don’t suppose the author will be too bothered about my opinion. Apologies if I’m wrong about that though - at least he’s writing, unlike me - so what do I know? !Regardless, I will be returning this book, as a very dissatisfied customer.

Stellar performance by Jeff Harding
Truth be told, this title isn't for everyone. It's quite full of cussing and the language used might seem odd at times. Personally I truly liked the characters and style of writing, but honestly, it is very peculiar. The story itself is okay, I guess, nothing noteworthy. What makes this book shine is the style of narration. And Harding knocked that aspect, namely narration out of the park. Utterly brilliant.
