Story
She always went to far. DS Alexandra Cupidi has done it again. She should have learnt to keep her big mouth shut after the scandal that sent her packing - resentful teenager in tow - from the London Met to the lonely Kent coastline. Murder is different here, among the fens and stark beaches. She was the one who found the killers. The man drowned in the slurry pit had been herded there like an animal. He was North African, like many of the fruit pickers that work the fields. The more Cupidi discovers, the more she wants to ask - but these people are suspicious of questions.

Summary
What if the figure that haunted your nightmares as a child, the myth of the man in the woods, was real?
He'll slice your flesh.
Your bones he'll keep.
Twenty years ago, four teenagers went exploring in the local woods, trying to find to the supposed home of the Bone Keeper. Only three returned.
Now, a woman is found wandering the streets of Liverpool, horrifically injured, claiming to have fled the Bone Keeper. Investigating officer DC Louise Henderson must convince sceptical colleagues that this urban myth might be flesh and blood. But when a body is unearthed in the woodland the woman has fled from, the case takes on a much darker tone.
The disappeared have been found. And their killer is watching every move the police make.

The Bone Keeper
I enjoyed this thriller. There are twists and turns as we discover the story of The Bone Killer and the characters who surround it. The narrator did well giving each character a voice with a Liverpudlian accent. There were times of sadness, fear and relief within the book. The ending felt a little rushed or short but overall I felt this was a good story.

I loved that this book was set around an urban legend and the first 75% had me completely hooked. I did however feel that the last 25% felt like it lost a bit steam but it was ultimately a satisfactory ending. The narration was great though. I'd be curious to find out if this was the start of a series or not as I would read/listen to more with the main characters from this.
