Narrator: Emma Gregory + Adam Price

Detective Sarah Noble once again finds herself investigating a mystery that as previously in the town of Slayton seems to have a sinister and creepy undercurrent.
When an old pram containing the bones of a baby is pulled from Slayton’s lake a cold case is dragged into the limelight, can Detective Noble solve the mystery before more innocent lives are lost?
I love a good detective story and even more so if it has a supernatural element to it, this book ticks all the boxes for me.

The narration is fantastic and really helps bring the characters to life.

Just the title alone gave me the chills…..

So when hundreds of crows in one succession fall from the sky into a lake bam, I was back in Slayton. The birds falling from the sky brought along a sense of dread….

When an old pram is pulled from Slayton’s lake, there are the bones of a baby still secured inside

DC Sarah Noble is on the case. Sarah is helped by the extraordinary Forensic anthropologist, Sophia Hudson who is quite the character. Sarah also has a secret weapon. His name is Elliott he is a special young boy who has a gift. His gift is the stuff of nightmares. Sarah goes out of her way to keep him safe as he is her best friend’s son.

Although this is a cold case, the can of worms that are about to be opened will make anyone want to push that can firmly shut…

Still, the case needs to be investigated as the past and present collide…

The ending made me wonder if there is another book in the pipeline

Many lovable characters and heart-rending twists. I didn't expect for Elsie's character to become so lovely although there is a sense that most things involving her get stuck on her size. It would be good to "get past it" just for the sake of the story and instead of constantly returning to her size, I would love to hear more about those saucy Southern stories! I can't say if she is good representation or not, but I would like to see similar characters humanized more. As always, lovely voice acting by Emma Gregory and I hope there will be more of this series in the future!!

Fantastic series!
