Story
No one is more familiar with Savannah's dark side than homicide detective and native resident Elise Sandburg. She's been haunted for years by her own mysterious past: She was abandoned as a baby in one of the city's ancient cemeteries, and it’s rumored that she is the illegitimate daughter of an infamous Savannah witch doctor. The local Gullah culture of voodoo and magic is one that few outsiders can understand, least of all Elise’s new partner.

Story
The disappearances of multiple young girls within days of one another thrust a small town into a panic. After a child is abducted at a local supermarket, Macy, an uncompromising yet isolated detective, dives deep into the secrets of the small town where nothing is as it seems. It’s only a matter of time before the kidnapper strikes again, and the sands of the hourglass have already started sifting away. After Seattle PD's homicide unit fails to stop the killing of young runaway girls, undercover VICE officer Susan "Susie Q" Quinton is requested to assist on the case.
Summary
The Thriller Award-winning series continues as Detective Jude Fontaine finds a decades-old connection to missing children that will freeze her blood.
A boy’s frozen body is found trapped in the ice of a Minneapolis lake. The horrifying discovery leads Detective Jude Fontaine and her partner, Uriah Ashby, to more bodies in the ice, all of twelve-year-old boys missing for twenty years.
Then, in one of the worst blizzards the city has ever seen, a four-year-old is abandoned on Jude’s doorstep. The child can’t tell them where he’s from, who his parents are, or how he got there. He doesn’t even know his name.
But in his unspoken language, Jude reads something horrifying - a connection to the dead boys. Now a four-year-old with no name may be the only key to a twenty-year-old, very cold case.

Another Hit!
This is the third book in the series and I absolutely love them. It is well written and flows nicely, and your always wondering what's going to happens next. The narrator is not awful but I'm not a big fan and I am used to her and is now. Would definitely recommend this series and I would say start at book one because all the stories connect and follow on from each other.

Amazing Book
The new Jude Fontaine series, I believe is Anne Frasier at her absolute best. She has creates such an intricate character and we are swept away with her trials and tribulations, her mod swings, her tragic history, her fight for justice for the victims, her sense of right and wrong, her caring personality even though she rarely shows it and most of all how she struggled to come back to some semblance of life. This 3rd installment was chilling. It was dark, and mysterious and heart wrenching. We see Jude become someone who does have the emotional capacity to care not only with the Boy but also with Uriah. I truly could not put this book down. However, I am so sad that this is the end of this wonderful character and all of the stories that could be told about her and the rest of the characters that inhabit her world. Thank you Anne Frasier for many amazing stories and the time spent enjoying them. Maybe if enough of your loyal fans tell you how upset they are about Jude not returning, you may change your mind. One can only hope!
Emily Sutton-Smith is one of the best narrators IMHO and she did not disappoint with the delivery of the story.

OUTSTANDING!!!!
This is the third book in the Jude Fontaine series. For anyone who hasn't listened to the previous books I would suggest listening to them before this one if you want the full impact of this story. If you choose to listen to this book first it will work as a stand alone.
The publisher's summary gives a very good overview and you can go with that. It doesn't delve into the real meat of the story. Jude Fontaine is a damaged woman who is also a homicide detective. The victim of a kidnapping and hostage for three years she has a unique understanding and insight to body language of both abused and abuser.
There are two major plots and a few minor plots going on simultaneously. Three will converge in the end for a blockbuster of an ending. There are two dead boys frozen in a lake and a story of human trafficking that is heartbreaking. There is an abandoned four year ill whose somehow involved but with a deeper story yet. There's Jude's nosey neighbor who inserts himself when he's not invited and a partner who is ill but the closest friend she has.
There's a lot going on in this well written book. All coherent, all believable and plausible with fleshed out vivid characters.
Emily Sutton Smith does a wonderful job narrating.
This book and series have my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS.

Compelling
I'm really enjoying this series. when a new one comes out I get it and read it immediately. During one section of this book I was relaxed, lying down, thinking I should set the timer to 15 minutes that shuts off my reader. I was leaning towards taking a nap. Then the chapter became so interesting I hopped up to listen intensely and for the next 15 minutes my heart was pounding with anticipation of what was to happen next! The ending of the book was satisfying. I can hardly wait for the next one.

I have a new favorite author, she has a great keep them guessing style. You might think you figured something out, but there will still be a surprise! The narrator was pretty darn good too, her reading allows you to really submerge yourself in the story. This is the 3rd in the series and they work best if read in order, if you were wondering.

Good Series
I like this author a lot, and this is the second series of hers I’ve read or listened to. Good narration as well. Just a funny quirk I’ve noticed while listening to the 3 Jude novels in a row — Frasier makes task lists. Fairly regularly in descriptions she will say Jude grabbed her phone, opened the screen, dialed the number, put it to her ear, listened, and waited. It’s like she tells you all the steps of a mundane task — nothing particularly wrong with it, but the task lists just stick out to me.
