About this listen

Fresh from the staggering success of The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, Marcus Goldman is struggling to write his third novel. A chance encounter in Florida throws him some inspiration from a surprising source: Alexandra Neville, the beautiful, phenomenally successful singer and Marcus' first love.

All at once memories of his childhood come flooding back. Memories of a family torn apart by tragedy and a once glorious legacy reduced to shame and ruin. The Baltimore Boys. The Goldman Gang. That was what they called Marcus and his cousins, Hillel and Woody. Three brilliant young men with their whole lives ahead of them, before their kingdom crumbled beneath the weight of lies, jealousy and betrayal. For years Marcus has struggled with the burdens of his past, but now he must attempt to banish his demons and tell the real story of the Baltimore Boys.

Translated from the French by Alison Anderson.

don't write audible reviews and after 5 years of a book a month on audible this has to be one of the best books both for writing and more importantly the narrator. I loved every minute if it so well told I was addicted to it...even listening at work ha ha

AMAZING !!!

That awkward second novel? Well, it may or may not have been but it doesn’t show. For those entering this tale as a follow-up to Harry Quebert, stick with it...some early chaffing of the life story of the Marcus we met previously soon gives way to another riveting good tale...very different but now less powerful- bravo Monsieur Dicker- bravo!!

After TTATHQA I was hoping for more of the same in TBB, yet if anything I believe it to be even more powerful. I don’t wish to give too much away, other than to say that the way in which the themes are put together, and the manner in which the story unfolds, simply grabs you by the guts and when you least it expect, makes you feel you’re finding out about your own family. I will forever be touched by this book, and in the case of this audiobook, by the wonderful recording by Robert Slade.

I feel I know the Goldman Gang like my own family now
