About this listen

Pizza, coffee, and a library full of unplayed games. That's the plan, or at least it was supposed to be. Instead, an average gamer finds himself seemingly transported into the world of his favorite game. While some might appreciate that, it's quickly apparent that he isn't in some sort of virtual reality experiment, all of his downloaded mods are active, and the world is likely set to its highest difficulty with permadeath enabled.

The good news is that one of the mods enabled has turned all of his favorite NPCs into women while removing the marriage limit of only having one partner. The bad news is that his mastery of the game has limited use when he discovers new elements he never encountered in the game nor any of its mods. And the more he progresses, the more he realizes something else is going on behind the curtains, but he has to focus on survival and keeping his new companions safe before he can uncover the secrets of the world he has been brought to.

Note from the author: The Ascension Game is a lightweight LitRPG that focuses more on build variety and horizontal progression rather than strictly numbers going up, though options are limited at first. The system draws inspiration for its mechanics from a variety of RPGs and sim games. Romance is included as well as unconventional relationships.

The series is off to a great start thanks to some amazing writing by Ace Arriande. Player might be on the hardest setting of the world but there are some perks. Enjoyed going on his adventures with him and getting to know some interacting characters. The narration was superb thanks to Giancarlo Herrera and Hannah Schooner. Can not wait for the journey to continue.

This story is about about a guy who is just coasting in life being transported into the game Terraria through unknown means.

The MC uses his knowledge of the game to take advantage of future events and plans how he is gonna to take on upcoming bosses and obstacles

Since it is based on a real game the story could be described as fanfic and it is well told as the story draws you in and even if you not familiar with the game, the author does a good job of explaining the game,

It's a really interesting take the genre and I quite enjoyed the experience. Not used to a MC being submissive at times so that was interesting (in a good way).
My small nitpick was that none of the characters, the game or basically anything had actual names. I don't even know what the MCs name was and I felt hearing him referred to as player was wired. but that's just me.

A good book, struggled with small parts tho
