Rupert Degas - Exceptionale

If you have enjoyed all the Sherlock stories, all the Raffles, all Chesterton’s Father Brown and want something in a similar tone, this is a wonderful discovery. It is a massive collection. So far I’ve finished the first three books and I still have 64 hours left!
I had heard the name Lupin previously but really knew nothing of this remarkable character. He is a secretive criminal, in the style of Raffles but with fewer morals. A lot of the plots involve him being hidden or in disguise and the police or protagonist trying to find out the truth of who or where he is.
The tales so far are interesting and varied. Sherlock Holmes in various anagrammed forms makes appearances.
I assumed that such a vast collection must surely have an acceptable but pedestrian reader - but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I have over 1300 Audible books and I rate this as one of the finest performances I have heard. Degas gets the tone absolutely right, the pace right and the emotion right. Brilliant.
Highly recommended.

Outstanding in quality and value

I had no idea before i started this that anything could be that tedious! I thought that French, yeah, detective, yeah, long listen, sure. Wrong. Ive given up on it. I got to a bit where the banter between Herlock Sholmes and Lupin which lasted so long, was so tedious and contrived that i switched it off. Gritted teeth comes to mind. Why this is availble i dont know. Dont waste your life listening to such silly stories! Its so bad it doesnt even send me to sleep!

Boring
