Summary

David Banks portrayed the Cyber leader in BBC TV sci-fi series Doctor Who and wrote the best-selling book Doctor Who - Cybermen, illustrated by veteran sci-fi artist Andrew Skilleter. The Archive Tapes: Cybermen is a audiobook based on that book, the hypothesized history of the Cyber race, written and narrated by the Cyber leader himself. This gripping retelling of the origins and history of the Cybermen is fully dramatized with vivid effects and original music.

There is logic in what he says.

A brilliant book by erstwhile Cyberleader David Banks, this audiobook version is slightly diminished by newly added music, sound effects and electronic voice modulation (not present in its former cassette tape incarnation) that often, sadly, render the narration inaudible.
But for anyone who wants a make-believe chronology of Doctor Who's second most famous adversaries, this remains definitive after over 30 years.

Poor Audio

Such a shame as I had the original on cassette when I was young and used to enjoy this audiobook and was quite excited when I saw it on Audible.

Unfortunately at times the narration which was so good in the original is almost impossible to hear under the new sound effects/music that have been introduced.

Think Audible need to look at this and see if they can get an improved version online as I would love to hear it properly again.
