Summary
A memorable ensemble cast of four young women who share a beautiful loft apartment in New York City's Hell's Kitchen and experience the glamour and challenges of city life, love, and career in this irresistible contemporary story.
Four young women's lives intersect in the apartment they've shared in Hell's Kitchen: Claire, a shoe designer; Abby, an aspiring novelist; Morgan, a successful financial consultant; and Sasha, a resident in obstetrics. As different as they are from one another, the women had become a family by choice. But while their lives had proceeded smoothly in the years they'd lived together, new relationships, job opportunities, and surprising circumstances will test the strength of their bond in and outside the loft that had become their home.

One of her best.
Danielle Steel is prolific. She has six books out this year and this one is one of the best I have read in the last few years.
She is at her feel good best here with a familiar theme of four very different young women getting together to rent 'The Apartment' - a huge loft space in New York. The listener gets to know about their lives, jobs, families, boyfriends and the usual ups and downs occur. This book is beautifully crafted and kept me interested and entertained. If you like Danielle Steel you'll love this one, and the narrator was excellent. It took me away from my life for a weekend and I was bereft when it came to an end. Thanks Danielle. I look forward to the next one.

Not the most exciting of stories
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The plot needs to speed up and have more about it. It is slow, predictable and boring in several places as the same thing is said quite a few times.
If you’ve listened to books by Danielle Steel before, how does this one compare?
It is significantly more dull and doesn't have any real spark to it that engages with the reader because it is easy to guess what is going to happen.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Explored two of the relationships but with more depth, intrigue and substance to each character.
Do you think The Apartment needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
NO! It would be so boring just catching up with the lives of the four females and their lives were not really exciting anyway.
Any additional comments?
Personally I felt it was a waste of a credit and had i paid full price I would have wondered what for!

Lovely relaxed novel
This is the first Danielle Steel book I’ve ever read and I really enjoyed it. It’s well written and it’s one of those books where you feel like you know the characters personally and can resonate with their life experiences.
I recommend as a really good read if your looking for something light, it gives the feel good factor 👍
I enjoyed listening on Audible, at the start I was thrown off by the male narrator but as the book went on I think he really got the story and the characters - a job well done.

Another Must Read from Danielle Steel
Would you consider the audio edition of The Apartment to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print edition, but the audio edition could have been better.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Apartment?
I think it was when Abby brings home a dog she adopted from a shelter on a whim. Her roommates aren't impressed but gradually open up to the dog and miss the dog when Abby leaves New York, taking the pooch with her.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Dan John Miller?
That would depend on the book. His portrayal of female characters in this book seemed forced, and the book should have been narrated by a woman since the main characters are female.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were several parts of the book that made me laugh.

Bad Lifetime movie
Firstly, the story about four women was narrated by a man. It was extremely annoying to hear him speak in falsetto.
Secondly the story was so silly and unbelief. The plot never unfolded- four perfect best friends, perfect lives , perfect relationships. Unrealistic and boring

Not the best chick lit
I was disappointed . I expected more from Danielle Steel. The Apartment is an uninteresting and unsurprising chick lit. This book could have been written by a 15 year old girl ( and maybe it was !). It is about friends, living in NYC and having lots of "family diners" or diners at restaurants. The characters lack ... character. In fact they are pretty shallow , like the book itself. If you want a good entertaining book about girls struggling at work and finally finding the right guy, stick to gifted Marian Keyes .
