About this listen

An horrific shooting on a crowded London commuter train in broad daylight sparks a determined manhunt. A desperate search for a killer. As well as the seemingly ordinary traveller who attempted to intervene.

Who was he? And why on earth did he run?

Answers are needed and fast. Because the police are not the only ones looking.

Miles Dalton is more at home in front of his computer than out in the real world. Now, the self-confessed nerd finds himself the centre of his very own life or death adventure game, hunted relentlessly by skilled teams of killers who have no intention at all of taking him in alive.

His only hope for survival is D.S. Sam Lennox. However, she is battling demons of her own.

New, untested, surrounded by resentment and plagued by her past, Lennox faces an impossible choice.

To save herself and her fledgling career.

Or risk everything for a complete stranger and do what she knows to be right.

The story was full of content and did not disappoint. However, the narration started flat and warmed up a little towards the end. Disappointing as this audio book had the potential of being highly rated. I would
recommend for the storyline and credit for the author.

“The Ajax File” by M.J. Webb is a solid entry in the thriller genre, offering a blend of espionage, action, and political intrigue. While it may not reinvent the genre, it delivers a competent and engaging story for fans of fast-paced fiction.

The book follows a classic spy-thriller structure, with a protagonist navigating a web of secrets, betrayals, and high-stakes missions. he plot is straightforward and easy to follow, making it accessible for casual thriller fans. The pacing is generally brisk, though some scenes feel slightly drawn out or predictable.

David Paterson’s narration, delivery is clear and consistent, I appreciate his ability to maintain tension throughout the audiobook. However, character differentiation could be stronger, especially during dialogue-heavy sections.

Overall, it’s a competent, no-frills thriller best suited for fans of classic espionage narratives

The Ajax File by M.J. Webb is another excellent story—well-written, engaging, and full of suspense. I really enjoyed the plot and pacing.

Unfortunately, the narration let it down a bit for me. David Paterson’s delivery felt flat, with little effort to differentiate between characters—male and female voices sounded the same, which made it harder to stay immersed.
Still, the story is strong enough to recommend. Well worth a listen if you can look past the narration.

Great Story but....
