Summary
Carlyle is a heavenly being who works as an agreement facilitator in the time outside of time. Here human beings are allowed to read the scrolls of their lives prior to their births. His first clients Julia and Nellie Jolicoeur – twins destined to be born on the cusp of the millennium in New York City - readily agree to their scrolls.
