Summary
Best-selling children's book writer Angelica is amused and flattered at the attention of Jack, the owner of a vineyard in South Africa, whom she meets at a dinner party. With his easy charm and reputation as a ladies' man, Jack makes her feel good about herself - surely it can't do any harm to indulge in a mild email flirtation?

Wonderful
This is is a must to read book. I was smiling and laughing through this book, which was enhanced by the fabulous reading of Jilly Bond. I was able to visualise the story as it was laid out. Highly recommend this book

Thoroughly enjoyable!
Beautifully constructed, it flowed perfectly; and I lost myself in the characters and plot. Highly recommend, it made me laugh out loud in parts! Going to listen to another Santa Montefiore novel... Blissful!

Intelligent ish
I didn't like the lead character. Found the love element unconvincing... good bits but for me it just didn't ring true

Took some effort to Finish
This wasn't my favourite by the author and I found myself wondering whether I'd ever get to the end. I did stick with it, but can't really say I enjoyed it and it was worth the effort.

Another great story
Really love her books. I have listened to many but I felt I was part of this group of girls. I could relate to it, not in high society but it’s about friends and love and life. Funny and a bit sad but great. Definitely a holiday listen

Umh not what I expected.
Would you listen to The Affair again? Why?
I only just discovered Santa and having read "The French Gardener" I was really looking forward to this but it didn't quite come up to the previous standard. However I'm not letting it put me off and will try another of her books.
What other book might you compare The Affair to, and why?
I felt this book was a little dated and far fetched, and if I'm honest a bit boring and a let down in several places, I can't think of a book to compare it with.
What does Jilly Bond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Jilly Bond gives a good performance, and appears to try and bring a little life into the more mundane parts, I like to listen to her and would certainly try to find other books she has narrated.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes I did laugh in places, and it has its sad parts too. The husband does very little to endear himself to the listener and at times I would liked to have boxed his ears.
