About this listen

The new Eddie Flynn novel from the Sunday Times and million copy bestselling author of THIRTEEN, FIFTY FIFTY and THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE.

'This guy is the real deal. Trust me.' LEE CHILD
'Top notch thrills and courtroom drama' SHARI LAPENA
'A terrific writer. He has talent to burn.' DON WINSLOW
'Just when you thought there were no new twists to bring to the legal thriller, Cavanagh comes along and knocks your socks off. The high courts meet high concepts.' LINWOOD BARCLAY
'Cavanagh has cornered the market in British iterations of the Grisham/Turow-style legal thriller, with razor-sharp dialogue a particular speciality. When the wife of a serial killer is arraigned for multiple homicides, Eddie Flynn decides to defend her - what he doesn't need is the killer's own ruthless intervention, targeting witnesses.' CRIME TIME

THE MOST HATED WOMAN IN AMERICA

The Sandman killings have been solved. Daniel Miller murdered fourteen people before he vanished. His wife, Carrie, now faces trial as his accomplice. The FBI, the District Attorney, the media and everyone in America believe she knew and helped cover up her husband's crimes.

THE LAWYER

Eddie Flynn won't take a case unless his client is innocent. Now, he has to prove to a jury, and the entire world, that Carrie Miller was just another victim of the Sandman. She didn't know her husband's dark side and she had no part in the murders. But so far, Eddie and his team are the only ones who believe her.

THE FORMER FBI AGENT

Gabriel Lake used to be a federal agent, before someone tried to kill him. Now, he's an investigator with a vendetta against the Sandman. He's the only one who can catch him, because he believes that everything the FBI knows about serial killers is wrong.

THE KILLER

With his wife on trial, the Sandman is forced to come out of hiding to save her from a life sentence. He will kill to protect her and everyone involved in the case is a target.

Critic reviews

Wow. Steve Cavanagh just gets better and better - this book is genuinely chilling and unnerving at every turn. Couldn't put it down
Brilliantly devious and twisty. Well done, Steve Cavanagh - I inhaled that!
Steve Cavanagh manages the feat of marrying a genial hero to a white-knuckle plot. Brilliant
Witty, razor-sharp proof that the courtroom thriller is in rude health in the UK
There's plenty you won't see coming (and it's all the better for it). This is easily my favourite of Steve's books
The Accomplice is a cunning, breathless and bloody tale in which nothing is quite what it seems. Steve Cavanagh tells it with such relish you're not sure whether to gasp or guffaw
Unmissable - 10/10
Book a holiday just so you can take The Accomplice with you
The perfect thriller
The maverick lawyer Eddie Flynn faces another thorny case, defending a prolific murderer's wife who stands accused as his accomplice in Cavanagh's new pulsating and scalpel-sharp courtroom thriller
If you haven't caught up with Eddie Flynn, what are you waiting for? Another winner, Mr Cavanagh!
More than once, The Accomplice had me biting metaphorical fingernails
Steve Cavanagh's Eddie Flynn series goes from strength to strength. The Accomplice is another muscular legal thriller, setting off like a freight train before twisting and turning through a snaky plot. Cavanagh's great skill lies in combining action with courtroom skulduggery; memorably evil villains with shades-of-grey heroes; and the sort of turn-the-page adrenalin that makes him a worthy successor to Grisham. Another triumph
Such a great book
A twisty plot, compelling courtroom drama and a terrifying serial killer make this next gripping instalment for Eddie Flynn fans unputdownable

The only downside was the female narrator who was so wooden it was painful at times

Predictable but still excellent!

Good narrator good story but the overall impression would not miss out if the story was not as long with fewer unnecessary repetitions

Good story but some parts too long

I was gripped within the first few minutes! Absolutely brilliant story narrated by Adam Simms. Love the twists within the story and the narrator is always able to bring out the best in the characters. I wish The author would bring out a new book every week so that I always have a good story to listen to!

The best yet!

Another good listen, had to stay awake far too long last night to hear the end. I always love Eddie but particularly like his commentary during the trials, the "tells" and tactics. The narrator IS Eddie Flynn, his changes of voice for each character are masterful. Already looking forward to the next book!

Another triumph

Loved all the other books in the series and this one kept me interested till the end. However I wasn't keen on the last 10 mins of it, felt like it's not finished. The narrator is brilliant.

Great addition to the series
