Summary
The Accidental Medium is the first book in a hilarious series from Tracy Whitwell featuring Tanz, the accidental medium who, with the help of the dead, is about to become an unwilling crime-solver.
Tanz is a wine-loving, straight-talking once-successful TV actress from Gateshead, whose career has shrivelled like an antique walnut. She is still grieving for her friend Frank, who died in a car crash three years ago, and she has to find a normal job in London to fund her cocktail habit. When she starts work in a ‘new age’ shop, Tanz suddenly discovers that the voices she’s hearing in her head are real, not the first signs of madness, and that she can give people ‘messages’ from beyond the grave. Alarmed, she confronts her little mam and discovers she is from a long line of psychic mediums. Despite an exciting new avenue of life opening up to Tanz, darkness isn’t far away and all too soon there’s murder in the air.

Great Fun
This is one of the freshest books I've read in ages. The story was just the right side of weird and conveyed a sense of the occult without spooking us out. It's really the kind of occult that drinks tea and biscuits rather than bat's blood.
And who would have thought that pairing detecting with palm reading would be such an interesting combination?
The characters were amusing and the plot a riot.
The narration was good from the author Tracy Whitwell which shouldn't be surprising as she's an actress. But it was a bit too shouty in places.

Totally entertaining!
I really liked this listen. Picked up on a 2 for 1 offer, just to see if I liked the writing. I will be looking out for the next in the series. I also like it when the author reads their own material and Tracy Whitwell made this interesting and fun.

Northern ‘lovey’ finds an unexpected vocation in the spiritual world.
A lovely escape into Tanz’s struggling actor’s life filled with humour, warmth and ghosts. Like a northern Brigit Jones meets Mystic Meg.

Loved it!
I’ve listened to hundreds of books and only been inspired to write one review - this!
As a true Geordie living in the midlands I can’t tell you how much joy this book has given me. If I had ‘identi-kitted’ my perfect pleasure listen, this would be it! Ghosts, lovable characters, fabulous humour and a genuine Geordie accent.
Please write more with haste pet! lol

Loved it!
Took me a little while to get into, great narration and loveable characters.
Not a fan of glamourising binge drinking, but overlooking that, it’s a fun and funny easy listen.

Easy listening, good story, with a bit of humour
Well read and entertaining all the way through. Not exactly a page turner but it did leave you wanting to know what happened next. Will seek out more from this author.

Fab comedy ghost story
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as nice easy listen that had me chuckling out loud. Great comedy ghost story and had me hooked from the first chapter. Loved the narration and the characters who all came across well.
Look forward now to reading the next book.

The comedy aspect
Enjoyed this even if a slow start getting in to the title but I hit a peak and then there was no stopping me from there. Listened in more or less 2 days on and off. Will defo reach out for another book off the author. Enjoyed the narration too. All suited the style of writing.
