Rosa Delgado was a commercial saturation diver and certified underwater welder—until the System audited her dive log and reassigned her to a sector that’s literally falling apart.
Habitats are failing. Pressure crystals are dying. Hull integrity is collapsing across the board. And the “administrator” in charge—a bioluminescent jellyfish in corporate mode—needs one thing:
Someone who understands that a viewport has a rated depth for a reason.
CLASS ASSIGNED: DEPTH WARDEN
A rare builder-type role designed for maintenance, reinforcement, and structural survival in an ocean that goes down forever.
Rosa’s first job site is a half-salvaged outpost anchored to ancient bone on the seafloor—cold metal, improvised bracing, leaking seals, and a beacon that’s basically an invitation to everything hungry in the dark. Now every weld earns XP. Every patch is progression. Every upgrade is a choice between safety now… and danger later.
Because light attracts attention.
To survive, Rosa has to do what she’s always done—only now she’s doing it with a System watching, a base that wants to become a fortress, and threats that don’t care about best practices. Build. Repair. Expand. Defend. And pray the next breach waits until she’s finished the upgrade queue.
THE ABYSS BASE is an underwater LitRPG base-building adventure packed with progression, crafting, structural upgrades, and survival stakes—where competence is power, and one mistake can flood everything you’ve built.
Perfect for fans of:
- Builder-class LitRPG and crunchy progression
- Crafting, upgrading, and “one more improvement” gameplay loops
- High-pressure survival in a hostile, beautiful deep-sea world

The book really emphasizes the satisfying, hands-on joy of fixing things. You’ll learn about the right way to weld, how to handle water pressure, and what makes a building stand strong. The author makes math and engineering seem like an amazing superpower.
Every patch, weld, and upgrade Rosa makes earns her experience points (XP). As she gets better, she can unlock better blueprints, stronger materials, and more complex defenses to transform her leaky home into a safe underwater fortress.

What I liked most was Rosa herself. She feels capable without being unrealistically perfect. Her experience as a diver and welder actually matters, and I liked that the story lets her solve problems with practical knowledge instead of making everything about combat.
The base-building was probably my favorite part. There’s something oddly satisfying about watching her repair things, gather materials, improve the base, and slowly turn this half-broken outpost into something more secure. The deeper she goes, the more dangerous things get, which keeps those upgrades from feeling pointless.
The underwater setting also gives the story a different feel from a lot of LitRPGs. It’s isolated, dark, and a little creepy, especially when you start thinking about what could be lurking outside the lights. There were definitely moments where I was thinking, “Yeah, I would absolutely not want to be down there.
Definitely a fun start to the series.
