Following on from the events of the last book Rimiru is faced with an approaching army targeting the refugees of a fallen allied nation. Compelled to act, intelligence is gathered and battle plans drawn up but as both sides are using similar tactics to misdirect and obfuscate their intentions which will win the day? Especially with other schemes being enacted elsewhere simultaneously.
Having emerged as a demon lord he has also entered a more tenuous position with the eyes of the various overpowered and mercurial individuals which make up the 'Ten Great Demon Lords' now upon him. Each of them mysterious and deadly but among them his sworn enemy Clayman, responsible for the disaster which befell Tempest, and Millim, a friend and the strongest of them all but now doing Clayman's bidding and responsible for malicious acts of inconceivable devastation.
There is also the perception that this power gives to the other nations. Given the threat he now has the potential to pose along with the extreme actions he performed in defence of his nation, he could easily be classified as an enemy of humanity. How would he be able to reconcile that with his intention to live a peaceful fun life harmoniously with the other races?
Brittney gives another excellent performance of this exciting book expertly switching between the many different characters and bringing out all the emotion and humour present.
