Summary
Too-clever, too honest, Cassandra Pomfret is legendary in London society for her strong opinions, the latest of which has caused yet another uproar. Her exasperated father decrees that If Cassandra won’t conform for her own sake, her younger sister can neither finish her debut season nor wed before Cassandra does....
But fate has thrown a wrench in her father’s well-laid plans, in the person of the Duke of Ashmont, whose angelic swoon-worthy looks are completely eclipsed by his monumentally bad behaviour, and whose sudden, scandalous pursuit of Cassandra threatens her reputation as well as her family’s.
Ashmont may have his (nearly uncountable) flaws, but he knows better than to ruin a lady’s reputation. The only honourable course is to wed her - especially since he wants to - and hope they both make it to the altar without killing each other!
A delightfully clever, charming and romantic Difficult Dukes novel.

A Regency Winner
Loved this second novel as much as the first. Very entertaining with fabulous characters and storylines. I highly recommend this joyous novel and congratulate the narrator

Excellent
I really enjoyed this book. Even if it is 2nd in the series if you haven't read the first book prior you do not feel like you are missing much (unlike some other books from a series)
I really enjoyed the story and almost felt like it allowed for the 'Duke' to become his own man. It is clear that Cassandra is a much better fit for Ashmont. There are also several subplots that fit right in and do not distract from the main story but complement it well.
Performance:
I really enjoyed this book. Kate Reading was excellent as usual.
The story stands on its own and could be read as a single novel outside of being the first in the series without missing anything.
Would definitely recommend

Stick with it
I wasn’t sure I would like this second book in the series, as Ripley was just heavenly and Ashmont seemed to be a drunken dimwit. Equally, Cassandra seemed the last person on earth to pair with him. But, gradually, with Ashmont learning to grow up and stop turning to drink as his first port of call when problems arose, and Cassandra showing her real self little by little, they became so right for each other. He was hilariously funny, especially when they eventually got together, and she warmed up amazingly and became a different person. It was all rather lovely by the end.

Delightful nonsense
Loretta Chase draws delightful rogues and dashing, intrepid damsels. Kate Reading is the perfect interpreter.

Made me laugh aloud.
The author has a quirky sense of humour and the two main characters are funny, and easy to like. Some of the references to the historical situation of the times gave a sense of how stifling and difficult was the plight of women then.

Very messy and rather boring
The story is jumping from one scene to another so frequently that you loose the trail. Character are one dimensional. I thought it would be witty and with some banter between the two main heroes but it's just so pulled by the ears.

Disappointing
I wanted to enjoy this, because I loved the first in the series. But I found myself badly put off by the heroines voice. Does nothing ever please this woman? She carps and moans about everything, and speaks to everyone as if they are beneath her.I cannot fathom how anyone could fall in love with such a disagreeable girl. I don’t know how much is down to the narrator and how much to the material she has to work with, , but my total lack of sympathy with her, even when she is expressing ideas I agree with, meant I really didn’t enjoy the book, and felt the heroine did not deserve her handsome hero and happy ever after.
