About this listen

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single vampire must be in want of a wife. Someone biddable, her memories easily expunged to allow for strange, inexplicable deeds and baffling circumstances. A tractable creature of average intelligence, willing to tend to the business of producing heirs and keep out of all else. A girl easily molded, incurious, indifferent, and demanding nothing beyond access to his fortune.

Fitzwilliam Darcy knows exactly who he needs. He can fix on the hour, the spot, the look, and the words which laid the foundation for an obsession he rejected. But 10 years later, at an assembly in an obscure village in Hertfordshire, he finds himself in the middle once more. His needs are unalterable. But can he resist the one woman he truly wants?

Once again many thanks to Harry Frost, who gave me 18 hours of delight, listening to "Tempt Me", (a book that had stayed in my wish list for sometime, because of the vampire elements). He gave Julie Coopers words, life, excitement and the need to listen again and again in the future. Since discovering his performances on "Audible" I have used the search facility to find more "Harry Frost" narrations and eagerly look forward to many more titles.

Harry Frost, Darcy & Elizabeth and Vampires

This story takes the original premise of P&P & throws it out the window. If you’re a purist, you won’t like this at all.

I must confess I wasn’t sure for the first few chapters as Darcy is just so different to how JA drew him but then it transpires that actually he isn’t so different at all. Equally Elizabeth is different too but again as the story progresses she isn’t that different either.

In the end this book was a fabulous read & it surprised me greatly. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m totally NOT a fan of sci-fi, horror or anything to do with vampires, witches or zombies. But as a huge fan of P&P variations (my currently listening count is 97!) I listened to this as it was narrated by Harry Frost and frankly the man could make a recital of the phone book entirely “tolerable”. While I made it to the end, entirely due to Harry’s amazing ability to bring characters to life, I don’t think I’ll be listening again.
